Well personally I dont usally pick until later in the year (stunziis , baeos, scriptipes etc ) but this year I want to find liberty caps in the summer (which is possible) SO I advise all people in below BC in Washignton to keep there eyes peeled back as this is the first shroom of the season , as far as I am concerned and I will let you all know if I find any in the next couple of day as the weather has been great
I will be on the prowl and will post any luck and hope the boys (and girls) in Washignton will do the same
Get out there and find those libertys , before me

I just explained to this person in a PM of his same above message that liberty caps do not come out iuntil the fall. Also If one goes back to March and April I have already picked a few buig ones of P. stuntzii, which has as usual been appearing throughout the spring in various locvations in the PNW. Those were the first shrooms of the season. Libertys may have five or ten or maybe twenty pop up in a lawn or pasture but fdinding them out of season is like a needle in the haystack. You won't find them, unless you go shrooming with Small Putrid. Every shroom to him is a liberty cap. And Psilocybe strictipes is a pastureland shroom which is no different macroscopically to P. semilaneata except it grows a little from manure of cattle. It does not resemble or look anything like P. bareocystis as reported in many early field guides. This happened because Leading Mycologists Rolf Singer and Alexander H. Smith wrote a paper , aa monograph in 21958 where they claimed that P. strictipes was similar to P. baeocystis only an inch or two taller. P. strictipes was actually found to be con-specific with P. callosa and is a field shroom, not a lawn mushroom. mj

Post deleted by Reverend_Jim_JonesReason for deletion: Suspect / stupid folks like Hughbie Doobie - "Anywho, I reckon it'd be fun to have a big Shroomery hunting entourage some time actually during the season. Anybody else who's game post here, then when we know what's happening, we can do the whole exchange of phone numbers, and finally a time and place for a meeting. "
