Well thought out, informative post.

Thanks from us Newbies!

However..thus far I'd say Rye Grain works better for me than WBS.

SO far.... we'll see

>>>1. You can not do it without a pressure cooker. The cheap one at wally world will do just fine.
Yes, Yes you can-brf pf jars are easily done with a pot+lid
>>>7. Straw is not hard, if you can do BRF, you can do straw.
it should be rephrased to bulk is not hard-once the concepts of mushroom growth are understood completely.
other than that, great compilation ookla!

Good write up, I only have one thing to add

Rye is awesome, it does not suck.

If you have contam problems with rye you can try soaking it in water for 24 hours before sterilizing, or cooking it with water for 45 minutes so it absorbs it quickly. The idea is to germinate any mold spores or contaminants that may be hiding in the grain, so that when you pressure cook it sterilizes it.

If it means anything I have about a 1:10 contam ratio with rye (which is normal)and I am not exactly the most sterile person in the world.
