Psilocybe Cyanescens in NZ

Today I went hunting, and managed to actually find some actives, which I compared with pictures of cyanescens on erowid.org, and they indeed are the right ones. However, the amount of shrooms we found was pitiful. 2 of us went hunting, and we found 8 between us. It's been raining for the last 4 days, and cleared up a bit today, with temperatures between 13 and 18 degrees. It has been quite humid as well. Have any other NZers gone hunting in the forest and not had very good results?

Those shrooms are probably Psilocybe subaeruginosa.
P. cyanescens does not occur in New Zealand.

The identification of Ps.Cyanescens in Australia and New Zealand is a common mistake. The inrolled cap margins during development, the substrate and the microscopic characteristics of many of the Psilocybes found in Australia and New Zealand that resemble Cyanescens actaully match Ps.Subaeruginosa. Buchanan believes that Ps.Subaeruginosa is actually an adapted regional version of Ps.Cyanescens, and certainly Subaeruginosa and allies are part of the Cyanescens family which explains the similarities.

Thanks for the correction. From pictures, it appears almost identical, so no wonder I got it confused.

Post deleted by Reverend_Jim_JonesReason for deletion: Suspect / stupid folks like Hughbie Doobie - "Anywho, I reckon it'd be fun to have a big Shroomery hunting entourage some time actually during the season. Anybody else who's game post here, then when we know what's happening, we can do the whole exchange of phone numbers, and finally a time and place for a meeting. "

Wow! I didn't expect much at all. We split the shrooms, and cut them up into pieces. Managed to get everything down fine, didn't taste that bad, no nausea. It hit me later though, and I ended up vomiting. Everything had ingested though, and I had quite a ride. Rough come up, with strong nausea, slightly panicky, bad vibes, a bit rattled. But I sat and listened to some CDs for a while, and eventually fed off the good vibes that were going around my group of friends. Slight visuals, STRONG body buzz. Didn't care that there were not many visuals, because the body buzz is a great feeling. After an hour, the bad feelings were gone, nausea going away, in a great mood, very happy, talkative and in good spirits. I had an overall great night And the best part is knowing that I actually hunted and crawled through thick bush for these shrooms
