Many people have previously reported getting sick on Paneolus ubbalteatus after eating dung specimens.

Dr. Andrew WEil wrote about that in his article Mushroom Hunting in Oregon Part two inthe journal of psychoactive drugs, in his book the Marriage of the Sun and the Moon and in his articles in the harvard botanical museum leaflets.

mj,

I my self have never gotten sick over them.
My safe-pik guide was written in 1978 when not a lot of information was available on these mushrooms.

As the years went by we learned a great deal more.

Unfortunalely I have not been able to find anyone interested in rerperinting an updated version of that little wallet pocket guide.

mj

maybe its possible they got sick from mis-identification??

thanks for the reply MJ there is a patch where they grow out of manuered soil in one of my pastures. i was going to pick them once they sprouted but got alarmed by that comment in safe-pik.

p.s. if i had the connections i'd love to reprint an updated guide.
