I'm gonna be making prints and stuff soon and wanted to know how many of you use agar, making LCs from spore solution and stuff. I'm tempted to try it because i actually already have some agar lying around and all i'd need to buy is some RTV silicone. and what brand works best? high temp one, the red tube?

Agar is the way to go. Any silicon will work.
Don't make spore LC.

why not a spore lc? I could understand a why you wouldnt want to make a ms lc(which i have now and the potency of my fruits varies a lot) but if you had a good print, why not? I get fully colonized 1/2 pint jars in 1 week, 10 days from inoculation to birthing.

i'm gonna make some spore syringes from prints i already have and gonna try and use the non-pour tek with agar. do you have to use the 1/4 pint jars for that? i only have half pint and pint jars.

Spore LC is fine once it is tested. The problem is you never know what you got till you test it.
on agar you see what's going on clearly. Agar LC would be much safer or grain LC.

The shorter the jar and wider the easier it will be to work with your agar. and spores to agar will be better that spore syringe to agar, less vectors of contam

Agar is what separates the boys from the men so to speak.
It can seem intimidating at first, but I would honestly recommend to anyone thinking of taking the plunge to just go ahead and do it. Learning from hands on experience is the most rewarding thing, and it is honestly not all that hard once you get a few pours under your belt.
It opens up entirely new possibilities and ways of going about things and is a needed skill to progress with mycology.
Using the no pour tek is a great way to get started, and here is another article I wrote about agar that may help some of you out: http://myco-tek.org/showthread.php?214-Agar-for-N00bs

I have a question though, I find searching for information is way harder then growing mushrooms, how would I have went about finding the information you provided? Sorry for being off topic OP.

try the advanced search. search for , agar tek, and click the trusted cultivator option. I some times choose less than 3 years also.

I have recently, in the past several weeks, started working with agar via a SAB and making use of the "No Pour Tek" Even have made some beautiful slants

In the next couple weeks I will be playing with agar. First I need to buy my pressure cooker. Then I will be playing with a few different recipes, anyone have any experience with Dog Food Agar(DFA)?

I just switched to agar. Its awesome, and Im not going back.
Dont let agar intimidate you. Also, you dont have to be doing isolations to use it. You can stay with MS inoculation directly to the agar and just look for clean myc.
I use ProfP's no pour tek, but I prefer the clearer and straighter sides of regular half pint jars. Makes it easier to see germination Ive found.

Are you going to isolate each strain from the tissue sample? Then test each one for best results? Then make a master slant (or two) of the best isolate

What're you talking about? Any LC started from any spores is a MS LC.

Trophycase; I almost posted a reply regarding that, too, LOLz.... Don't know what he/she thinks the difference is between a spore print and one that is hydrated within a syringe
