Then you're allowing idiots to pound your head.
Mycelium performs best on a normal day/night rhythm. A cow pie in the middle of a field is not in total darkness during the day. Indirect light during colonization will speed initial pinning, as well as speed colonization. RR

it makes sense, I almost feel dumb for not thinking of it. I have tried more than a few times to get a local srtain (psilocybe cyanescens) I can never get it to fruit though recently I found that its because primordia formation is 50-60F° and that's a bit colder than I tried. I spent a lot of time and effort to try to recreate wild conditions and never considered it might benefit to introduce light to my jars.

Hey man, hopefully not everyone abandoned this thread already. I have a quick question about lighting as well but it's not really a good enough question to warrant it's own thread. I'm sure it's been answered but my quick search didn't give me the answer.
What's the wattage you guys use on your setups? I have a little CFL, it's 65K and all but it's only 13 watts. Is that too weak to be of use or will that do? It'll also be getting some indirect sunlight which I just read RR say will do wonders. Just wondering if one 13 watt 65K CFL and indirect sunlight will do the trick or if I should snag another one or grab some higher wattage bulbs.
Thanks if anyone responds!

That will work fine for a single mono tub or SGFC

Hopefully, you meant to say 6500K
A 13 watt cfl is at the bottom end of being effective, so keep it within a few inches at most from the fruiting chamber. A brighter lamp will provide more benefit. RR

Yeah, 65000K I meant. It's on a lamp with a bendable arm so I'll be able to bend it so it's directly over the monotub, while also in a room that is getting a good deal of direct/indirect sunlight for the majority of the day. I guess it sounds worth setting the light up too, even though it's not ideal wattage.
