USA's actions abroad--pros and cons
    #1568212 - 05/22/03 03:56 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

This thread is where we can all put positive and/or negative examples of U.S. activity in the world.  Things it's done for or to other nations.

When the list is complete, we'll all be able to see, once and for all, if the U.S. is mostly wonderful or mostly shitty!

This won't be easy.  For one thing, a positive example in one person's opinion might be a negative example in someone else's.  Like foreign aid, the war on Iraq, etc.  For another, do we judge by the intention or the outcome?

But let's give it a try.  I'll start.

Positive: The U.S. helped Europe rebuild after WWII.

Negative: $3 billion aid to Israel.

Hurry and add yours in, so we can do Canada next.

How much do we really know though.. I have stories from people I have met from the marines, from many different wars,, there's nothing positive in the fact that are diplomacy does need reinforcement in the form of killing, but maybe are government needed to stop very important "side" issues. Let's say Iraq, developing and testing "nuclear" type tech. Is dangerous to the whole world's destruction, ONe Emf experiment gone wrong could kill everyone.. And the fact is we would'nt see that coming. Although, if we experiment with these types of devices, then the people behind them, could always take refuge in underwater bomb shelter biospheres, and possible survive the fallout. So.. And maybe Hiroshima was just an accident...

nugs, quit your complaining and put in a pro and a con.

How's Kauai? A world apart from Oahu, isn't it? You get out to the north side?

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers
