"The Costa Concordia had more than 4,200 passengers and crew on board when it slammed into the reef Friday off the tiny island of Giglio after Schettino made an unauthorized maneuver from the ship's programmed course — apparently to show off the luxury liner to the island's residents."
damn. man slaughter? I mean he should have gone back, but wtf. He is not responsible for all dead? Man that sucks. That guy is an idiot, but how can you climb up the ladder of a ship that is side ways? Fuck Europe sucks as much as the U.S.

He's the captain. He was responsible for the ship running aground.
It's hitting someone in the car while texting. You obviously didn't do it purposely, but you're still responsible.

wow. he is responsible. but god damn man slaughter? If I was on a sinking ship and some asshole rode up to me in a boat and yelled "get up the ladder," and the ladder was more horizontal then vertical because a few hundred/thousand ton ship was sinking, I'd scream "FUCK YOU ASSHOLE! You get up the ladder, then I'll follow!!"
I'm not saying he was right to flee, but how can you assess the amount of passengers on a sinking ship. What killed the few passengers that died? the cold water or the height of the drop to the reef?? I mean that's a lot of shit to live with. I'm sure the guy didn't get up and say "today I want to slam into a reef, watch people died, then get the fuck out." And now the guy will probably go to jail.

If you aren't willing to be responsible for your actions you probably shouldn't take thousands of people's lives into your hands.
If I crash my car while doing something negligent, and you are in it, it's my fault if you die. It doesn't matter if you got killed by the pavement, a telephone pole, or a semi truck. Frankly I think what the captain did is comparable to crashing your car while screwing around, and abandoning your passengers in the flaming wreck while you run for safety.

This pansy deserves to go to jail for first off: -For showboating (all puns intended) -For abandoning ship before everyone could be accounted for.... I mean FUCK... half the ship didn't even freaking sink! He could have just sat on the side of a cabinet in the bridge or something...Fuck What a pansie.. NO EXCUSE

wow. well idk, if he was injured it'd be a different story. But yeah it seems he ran and just was like 'fuck it who gives a solid shit' But damn, a few thousand ton ship sinking? Wow that's scare the shit out of anybody. Those ships are like buildings. I don't know I've had weird experiences with coast guard members yelling at me for being on a dock drinking, I just imagine some cocky coast guard member showing up and yelling at someone. If I were the captain, in a row boat, I wouldn't do much good, if the coast guard picked me up, took me back to the ship, then went up with me, that'd be a different story. please note the picture:

does it look like it's possible to get back on that ship? I don't know man, he shouldn't have fled, but whoever told him to get back aboard that ship was definitely a moron. "hey, get back up there and put the engine in reverse you fucking dip shit!! Damn punk" telling someone they are responsible for man slaughter in that situation is pretty fucked up. The guy was a coward, we all cower, that ship would have sank to the bottom if there was no reef. Thousands of tons of steel sinking. idk I guess he deserves it, heat of the moment idk you'd have to be there. Is that thing side ways or what??

Try to get an uncensored subtitled version of the radio communication between the harbor authorities and the captain, wow now THATS a talking to.
Seriously, the captain was discussing ramifications with his bosses while he should have been coordinating saving as many passengers as possible, then got in a lifeboat with people still on board.
He lacked all spine. A captain shouldnt go down with the ship but he should coordinate the abandoning of the ship and saving as many lives as possible. People needed leadership and he failed on all counts before, during and after the calamity.
