After I have inoculated my jars and they are ready to sit for a few weeks. Do the jars need tinfoil on top of them for those weeks to help avoid contaminations?

No a simple coffee filter between the screw ring and the actual cap is fine

The foil is removed after sterilizing to allow for proper gas exchange.

Did you prepare BRF cakes or grain jars? If you followed the PF tek for cakes, then the dry vermiculite is your contamination barrier. I have read mixed viewpoints, but most people don't cover the lid so that gas exchange occurs. You could use micropore tape over the inoculation holes. A coffee filter is a waste of time. That's like a chain link fence trying to keep mosquitos out haha

What? No. Coffee filters are at best a psychological balm.
The dry verm layer is all you need to protect the growth. Leaving the foil on may restrict GE and lead to slow or no growth.
As to "incubation help" the answer is again No. Just put the jars on a shelf. Room temps are good for growth. Heating them will lead to contams if you are not careful.
Good luck,
JD

foil on top does help avoid contaminations. It doesnt mean that if you take it off it will get contaminated tho. once the cakes have been near 100% colonised, they can withstand contaminants better.
I'd recommend to let jars incubate in dark otherwise shrooms might start growing around edges of jar before you dunk and roll. this might mean that when you dunk and shrooms grow, the ones that came up in the jar will be the biggest but this might take away from growth of others. good for them all to grow at same time if poss.
main thing is gas exchange and warmth. As long as jars have that exchange and dry verm layer then should be ok. I prefer jars in incubator just to speed along colonisation.

Thank you for all the quick responses. Ive got them all in a black trashbag in the corner of my room, and the room temperature is 67-68 usually. Is this heat fine or should I raise to around 71?

that all sounds good. you can increase the temp if you want but i think it is adequate.
after researching some more. the whole light thing is open to question. naturally, mycelium is underground and therefore dark but i don't think light will affect it too badly.

Sorry, but this is bad data.
Lack of GE can help contams.
You want the foil off.
Good luck,
