Hello I am a first time grower. My ready to grow, Cubensis B+ kit is on its way to me and I am setting up an area to grow in. I dont have or can afford a heating pad but i do have a plug in radiator! I know not to put my grow box directly on the radiator but i need a way of keeping thm warm. I plan to keep my box a bit over half a meter away from the radiator. Is this to close? i would hate to damage the babies!
Also i am planning preserve some of em. I recently had damp in my room so i have a humidifying machine in my room. This machine takes water out of the air. If i had a Tupperware box with a hole in it and then taped it to the machine with my shrooms in it, would they dry? could this in any way hurt the lil ones?
would be great to hear back from someone experienced, thanks for reading

With that humidifier and radiator you wont grow shrooms. Your destroying the growing climate. You need high relative humidity in your room and the humidity in your grow kit must be atleast 98% at all times. Usually Cubes need to be in warmer climates for colonization. When fruiting, they can do well in cold weather. Infact they are more potent when fruited in colder climates. 65-70 degree's Fahrenheit is a good fruiting temperature IMO. Its slower then when your fruiting in the mid to high 70's but it greatly reduces chances of contamination and as I already said, produces heavier, thicker, more potent fruits.
Your grow kit was most likely a waste of money. I only say this because It cost less then a hundred dollars to grow more shrooms then you could bother eating in a life time versus the one or two flushes and mediocre amount of mushrooms kits grow.
I highly suggest you head over to the Mushroom Cultivation forum and just start reading. Read about "Monotubs", "fruiting conditions", and post a thread regarding your tub over there. And if you want to grow your own from scratch which is alot more fun and cost way less. Start reading up on the "PF Tek".
But other then that, good luck on your first grow and if it doesnt work out dont give up. Failure happens with all growers, I recently just had a bunch of shitty multispore genetics that took a month and a half to full colonize (when they should have finished at 21 days) then I let them colonize in 9 grow tubs and they took forever so I had to just face the music they were never going to finish and I had some down syndrome Ecuador spores (my favorite and another good strain) that needed to be thrown away. So don't let any set backs be a discouragement and if they are and your grow fails.
Well then I suggest you grow "sclerotia" and look up a thread "Just as Easy as Cubes" in the search engine. Sclerotia are mushrooms that can but don't have to fruit, they start off as walnut looking stones that grow in the mycelium which you can eat just as are and still trip. All you do is inoculate(shooting spores) some jars and wait a two months. Open jars and your good to go. So simple it almost takes any and all conceivable challenge out of mushroom growing.
Well thats about everything I can think of.
