I have 16 gauge. but my LC is too thick. I need to find 14 gauge non blunt.
Google has seemed to fail me in my search for these....
Can anyone source these?

Gotta stir that LC while it's colonizing quite frequently after the first 7-10 days..i'm guessing you used a sugar-laden recipe as well? I'd make a new LC, look to my sig for a simple tek. A needle LARGER THAN 16g will probably compromise your jar's inoculation port. Using karo, honey, dextrose, SIGR, etc. make very thick LCs that colonize quickly in the LC but slowly on grains. A simple 1g extra light dry malt to 500-600mL of water is very wispy and colonizes grains aggressively.
EDIT: corrected above

I use 5g Dextrose 5g LME, to 500ML distilled water. I have a stir plate, And I use this as a blender lol.. Colonizes everything quicky, And I use 18g, just fine I have 16g, But I have never needed them since I made my stir plate

Yowza. Try out a 1g ELDM / 600mL solution, you'll be amazed at it's performance on grains I want your stir plate too

Sorry, I also mistyped, a 14g needle is so large it will probably compromise your inoc port.

I did malt extract/karo LC. I have done many LC's before but this time it is too thick. I left it to colonize without stirring for weeks....
I have 12 half pint LCs at the moment. and I really don't want to start over and make bulk again.
I am not concerned with the injection port being compromised because I am using large spawn bags and will be sucking up most of the half pint. plus i have 11 more :P
I just really need a 14 gauge needle.
I will try my vet... any ideas about a place to order online??
thanks!

thanks. I did see the 14g blunt tips ones to order, but would prefer the normal tips.
Why is it so hard to find 14gauge needles?
My issue with the blunt tips is.... I'm worried that if I try to use these to go through my rtv silicone then it will plug the needle with a chunk of the silicone. I'm worried it will not pierce through it properly like the normal needle.

Haha thx
I will order up some blunt tips. 14 gauge and give them a go. And thanks for the advice on the LC also.
It sounds like just using the light malt extract dextrose alone with no karo seems to be the better choice.

Yea ELME works great by itself. I have no clue why you would use karo. Most LC's contain one source of sugar only

*UPDATE*
Just wanted to chime in again and say THANKS all.
The 14 gauge blunt tips came in mail. worked GREAT. Still cant suck up the large blobs of Myc. But it gets the job done.
I did think it was going to compromise the RTV injection port. It did not.
Went right through. did not get plugged up with silicone. The entry hole seems to still self seal, there is a small drop of liquid in the little hole. But I do believe it is sealed. Time will tell.
