I'm thinking I might just case some and spawn some to bulk for the rest. I am looking for yields sooner than later. Also, I have a bunch of 1 off spawn bags of various grains; Brown rice, Irish Oats, Quinoa, White Millet, WBS, Rye, Popcorn, and cornmeal/vermiculite. I have to saythat Irish Oats are amazing. They colonized very quickly. I will probably just case the grains I only have a quart or 2 of and spawn to bulk for the rest.
Also, what about the cakes that were in the greenhouse for a week? Move to SGFC or leave them where they are? They are right above wet perlite and next to an ultrasonic. I wonder if the temperature being a bit low has slowed them down.

Im not sure about cakes I've never done much with them. But i have just taken fully colonized wbs cakes and crumbled them and cased. That does pretty good and can fruit pretty fast.Good luck in what ever you choose to do.

So, I ended up putting more cakes in the greenhouse. I cut out aluminum foil circles and then put the aluminum directly on my perlite trays and the cakes on the foil. Got a few pins on the cakes that have been in there for a week. The pins were only at the very bottom of the cake. I think it was because I had the cakes on a rack about a 1/2 inch above the perlite. This caused them to keep growing towards the perlite to fill the gap and I think raised them out of the microclimate created by the perlite. So, I cut some foil for them too and ditched the rack. Now they are flush with the perlite. Hopefully I will get more pins soon.
Also I cased some grain. I'm hoping I did it right. I used an inch moist verm. on the bottom spread out about 1 1/2 inches of colonized grain, then topped with 3/4 inch 50/50 verm. peat balanced with lime. I should let that colonize the casing and consolidate before I move it to the greenhouse, right?
I also crumbled some cakes and mixed with pasteurized manure/straw/coir/lime/gypsum mix. But, I didn't case it. Am I correct in thinking that I let the substrate colonize before I add the caseing, or should I add caseing now?
Thanks for any help you feel like offering. I'm still learning and I know those of you who have been around the block have answered these before. I have been reading the forums religiously, I just want to make sure I'm not making any big mistakes. Thanks!
