hi mr rabbit, the same thing happened to my cousin. the fruits were almost completely bone dried in small dessicant box-chamber.
Then the fresh ones were added and they released their moisture only to be absorbed by the dry ones.
make yourself a second chamber if you can or pre-dry the second fruits on a window screen.hope that helps.

To avoid this problem, try air drying your shroomies first, then using dessicant for final drying.

A air dry box it easy to make. any container will do. you just need a small fan blowing in or out. and small holes on the opposite sides of the container. drys them fairly fast. using this and dessicant means dry shrooms in about 3 days rather than 4-5 with dessicant only.

This is especially helpfull when you harest a large batch at once. sometimes dessicant just cant suck the moisture out fast enought, and the shrooms will bruise or rot.

You might want to try drying over or in front of a fan. You can use hardware cloth to make trays or regular window screen to make an "envelope" to dry the shrooms in. Best way I have found is to dry over a fan. If your shrooms are small or are abhorts, fold a piece of window screen in half and staple the edges, load your shrooms, staple the last edge, and hang in front of a fan or over one. After they are dry, place in a glass jar, add a little dessicant in a salt shaker to help absorb and excess humidity. My shrooms last for 6-8 months and are still dry when I take them out to grind them up. No loss in potency. The pics should help you visualize what I am talking about.
