 Outdoor patches with contaminated cakes?

I hear lots of talk around the forum about starting outdoor patches with contaminated cakes. Is this advisable? I was under the impression that once a cake was contaminated you should trash it... no questions asked.

all wild shrooms are grown with contaminants growing all around them. Mother nature has a way of making everyone play nice. But, if the contamination is to bad before you throw it outside it could be to late.

What precautions need to be taken if you are going to do this? I've heard of cutting out the contam and singeing the cut areas with a hot sterilized metal, but is this all that needs to be done? At what point is a cake too contaminated to use as in outdoor spawn?

No matter how contamed it gets you should still put it in the ground. If you toss it in the garbage what chances are there that you'll luck up and get shrooms, unless you frequent the land fill.

Just for the record, I've read that when utilizing an outdoor tek there is no need to pasturize your poo. Is this accurate?

yeah, thats accurate, There is NO reason to take ANY sterile procedures to the outdoors. As moe says "some fat hoe called mother nature" takes care of all contamination issues. Some composted poo, some straw, some water, and some contaminated cakes, and within 6 weeks its my bet that you would likely have some fruits.
