Help- Bottoms of jars not colonizing

So I inoculated my substrate jars (brf + verm) on October 21st (A little over a month ago). Within the first 5 or 6 days, I was seeing great colinization and the sides of the jars all colonized great at around 81 degrees F. I left for Thanksgiving break and thought if i turned the temperature up a little it would help (I put it at 83). I just checked my jars and every one is fully colonized on the sides, ONE of them, is colonized all over, and the other 5 are FOR THE MOST PART colonized at the bottom-- the bottoms show no brown or color of the substrate but are not fully and completely white, it's white, but it's like the substrate isn't fully stuck together in certain small areas of the bottom but the rest is fine.
SO...
Question #1-- I was planning on dunking the cakes tommarow, but am not sure if I should wait longer. The bottoms are after all, white, just not sticking together completely like the rest of the jar. Tonight I turned the jars upside down hoping the bottoms would colonize like that (I am using the mycodome where one bucket is floating on top of another bucket with a fish tank heater and water and the fish tank heater puts out small amounts of light that glare through the bottom of the bucket and i thought this might be the cause). Should I let it sit upside down for a few days and hope the bottoms colonize OR should i turn them back right side up and keep waiting OR should I go ahead and dunk them anyways?
Question #2-- I think one of my jars has a tiny green spot at the bottom but it's hard to really tell through the jar if it's green or if it might just be a darker area that's not colonized. Should I throw it out immediately or keep it until the whole thing colonizes white so that i can tell for sure? (again- it's hard because it's at the bottom and the bottoms of my jars still have spots that aren't totally white)
Thanks!!

turn the jars upside down, as a build up of co2 can cause the myc to stop growing, try that

you can flip em upside down and slam it against your palm. this is called giving it "headroom". not uncommon. i'd wait for the jars to get completely white. especially the one you aren't sure about. if you ain't sure toss it or at least isolate it into its own fc. 3 liter coke bottles work ok.

Great idea all, mine are around 80% colonized and I think I'll also do this in a couple of days and wait until the weekend to dunk + roll these suckers.

colonizing myc likes co2..
is this half pint or pint?
this is common in pint jars
if it's half pint, then you've probably packed your sub down.

This happens to me when my substrate mixture comes out a bit too wet, too much moisture probubly won't stop growth rather just slow it, or cause it to be not so "dense" and extra moisture settles on the bottom of the jars. Maybe this is what your experiencing too, you could try a bit less water next time, Good luck. p.s. any jars that I have done that looked like that grew fine, just took longer to fully colonize!

well from my experiance, it happens in alot of jars, as i used 1/4 and 1/2 i took the top off for a split second resealed, turned upside down and they were done in 2 days.
so im only saying what ive tried and tested.

It helps, because it unsticks the cake from the glass, gets rid of excess CO2 (some is good, as the mycelium normally spreads in anaerobic situations (i.e. underground/underpoop) but you can get too much) and also lets that part of the substrate dry out a little in contact with the air

if its really struggling even after flipping them, it could be contam.
i didnt PC a batch correctly once and when the jars colonized they seemed good for a few weeks, then stopped at the bottom. few days later some nice mold showed up on the bottom.
hope thats not the case, its a real disappointment. good luck

i had this to, i had a 1.2 pint tumbler 95% done and then an extra groth turned up in the jar, its smelt sour aswell so i tossed it.
trial and error.

The main cause of non-colonizing jar bottoms is excessive moisture which settled to the bottom of the jar.
Flipping it might help to get it colonized, but the solution is to use less water in your substrate.
