Even if you can, golf courses are notorious for spraying various types of chemicals. Mushrooms tend to concentrate chemicals, so you end up eating whatever they've sprayed. There are numerous incidents on record of people being poisoned by some sort of herbicide or pesticide they ingested as part of eating mushrooms they got from a golf course.

So be very cautious about any mushrooms from golf courses.

As long as you're off the golf course itself you should be OK. They don't want to contaminate environment off the course because of potential environmental damage and it costs money for those chemicals. They don't want to waste their money polluting areas outside the course and maybe getting in trouble.

You probably won't be able to remove the chemicals from your mushrooms - at least not in a way that doesn't also ruin the mushrooms for any other purpose.

Happy mushrooming!
