Well a friend received a print and made a syringe. He's never made a syringe before so he's not sure if not adding sex lube or something to prevent the spores from sticking to the syringe would be an issue. So anyway he made a few pf jars to test and they were inoculated on the 1/06 and there isn't any sign of growth. Could it be due to the spores sticking to the walls of the syringe or what? He's cultivated before and knows that by now there should be signs of growth at this point. How much longer should he wait before trying again?

Can take up to two weeks for signs of germination from spores.

Damn. The longest it's took for him was 5 days for signs. I thought south Africans were supposed to be aggressive. So does it matter if you use some sort of anti clumping shit in there?

One to two weeks is normal for germination.

People use lot of different things in their syringes to prevent clumping. Sex lube, surfactants(such as Jet-Dry)...PF used a gram of agar per liter of water.

You could shake the hell out of the syringe-- or use ultrasonic waves like in a jewelry cleaner bath --to break up the spore clumps.

Generally though, it is stated that if there are enough spores for you to see, there are millions which you can't see. Many people use syringes that look nearly clear with good success.

I grew some beautiful Transkeis around March of 2010.  Probably the prettiest 'shroom I ever grew.  Something about them.  (Not the most-potent; tho, that could have a lot to do with the source spore that selected itself to grow my batch; I'm sure this could be stated more accurately in mycological terms, but let those nerds deal wi'f ze lingo...).

They're cool.  I like Transkei.  (I think it was my first successful "grow"; but, beyond that, the shade and slope of the cap were different from any other I ever grew.)

I already understand all that. What I'm trying to figure out is if there is nothing added to your spore water, are all the spores going to stick to the walls of the syringe and not come out or will it be fine? There wasn't anything to add to the solution on hand so nothing was used.

I've heard quite the opposite. I've yet to try them but I've heard they are a really good strain.

As I sed: I'm a major "head," and they were lite to me.

But such might have been "the genetics" of that which I grew.  Yer mileage may vary.

You say it came from a print.

When I use fresh prints, it make the syringe water look murky and shaded, but I can't see the spores.

An old print almost looks flaky when transferred to a syringe, and the spores need to be hydrated.

Hydrated spores would clump eventually without a non-nutritious gelatin like media like lube or agar.

If it was a dry (not fresh) print, maybe the spores need to be hydrated.

Well hopefully it'll work out for me. How much did you dose of the transkeis? What do you think 4.5 grams would be like?

I'd think 4.5g dry of just about anything would be good enuf for a fun ride (even for me).  So, maybe I was being conservative when I did 'em up.  I don't know.

They grew well; they were pretty as fuck-all; ...just, I didn't get a major kick out of them.  But your print genetics are not my print genetics.

Weigh out 4.5g cracker dry; munch 'em on an almost-empty tummy, 'cept with orange juice (or: do the LemonTek variation...do a Search on this site about LemonTek: IT WORKS!)

Let us know, 'k?  :awesomenod:

You're obviously referring to RR's methods. Why don't you go back to that and figure out yourself.

I have his voice stuck in my head on syringe preparation. Pay attention.

You don't have to be a dick man. All I was saying is I know the concept of adding shit to prevent clumping, but I didnt. I don't have a clumping problem and if I did I'd just shake the fuckin syringe. My only concern was if the spores where going to stick to the syringe walls and not come out. That's all.

That would mean go back to your sources. But if you want to be lazy about it, NO! You don't need lube. Raw dog.
