Popcorn as substrate and why won't it fucking work...??
    #1563503 - 05/20/03 04:41 PM (20 years, 10 months ago)

Well, I checked my jars today which were inoculated on Thursday and there was no colonization being taken place... Maybe I didn't wait long enough but usually after 3 days I see a white circle forming. The corn was barely cracked and I think that's the idea with PCin it(not in jars) first.

SOOOOO TODAY: I took the corn from the jars and PCed them for an hour. After that all the kernals were soft and cracked open. I then put the kernals in a strainer where I ran water through the kernals to RINSE them off. After rinsing, I loaded them into the jars. I put a piece of tin-foil on then the lid of the jar and PCed it for 45minutes.

Now I wait for tomorrow to inoculate, I'll report back if I seein mycelium.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I inoculated them and now 3 days later there IS NO GROWTH!?!?!!? what is it that i've done wrong? Should I have strained them longer?

Or could perhaps my spores are dead? I'm not sure

learn to be a bit more patient,
it's not unusual for it to take 5-6 days to germinate.

Like HIPPE said calm down smoke a bowl , have a drink, have sex, whatever just let them grow. I know how you feel........... you check your jars daily for growth or contams and it seems like nothing is happening so youre like GODDAMN IT!!!!

As long as you don't see any contams just be patient it sometimes takes awhile. Especially with multispore germinations. Give em' a chance they won't dissapoint you seem to have the process down just be patient.

Good Luck, Amanita Dreamer
