That's how I grew all my shit, pardon ze pun, for four months in 2010. Mycobags just prevent trych; are absolutely brainless; take up little space; can be grown totally within the bag, without "birthing"--and then after the first pop, can be dunked and put back in the bag and grown until the next cycle, then again.
I love mycobags with horse poo + verm + gypsum, with fully-colonized grain crumbled in, VERY QUICKLY, then sealed and mashed. Super easy.

I'm glad to hear that you've had such success with it! Did you pin them invitro or open the bag up and put it into a fruiting chamber?

Heres the bags compared to a remote, AAA battery, and a fork so you can get a feel on the size of them more.

Well, those bags do look to be properly sized.
(this is one concern, as you can put too much sub into one)
Do you have any photos of the spawn?
It is hard to say, but clean spawn usually means success in one of these sacks.
Good luck,
JD

Thanks for the quick reply JD
I do not have a picture of the spawn. I didn't pasteurize them myself, I ordered these bags from someone on the internet.
The spawn seemed really healthy, so I guess time will tell from here.
Do you think it would be best to fruit them invitro or in a FC?

Wow those look awesome! About how much substrate did you have in those? Invitro?

I usually just trim the bag down to the level of the sub.

If I case a block, I like to open the sack in front of the flow hood, add the casing soil, and seal the bag back up. After a few days, I introduce the block to fruiting conditions.
This all being said, you could also lay the sub into tray and let it mend, and then fruit it, case or not.
Good luck,
JD

Those are beautiful JD
I'd rather just keep these blocks in their bags, unless doing a tub would be much more effective for yields? But judging by your picture, fruiting from the bag has quite of bit of potential too.
Would you recommend casing them if I decide to fruit them from the bag?
Also, did you keep that bag in the pic above in a fruiting chamber?
Is there a reason the bottom of the bag above is black?

I will be using these for monotubs in the matter of days, except I go 50% poo compost 50% coir formula. If those bags came from outgrow and you have half a brain you'll see shrooms bro.

Well lets hope I have half of a brain anymore
Can I break these bags up to spread out the mycelium for some more inoculation points?

So... how would you prepare for another flush in a bag like this? Just mist with more water? Dump water back into the bag?

2/3 through, it won't hurt if you LIGHTLY agitate and mix things up a bit.

not sure of the weight of the bag i posted. 5 lb or less. That was 10 years ago in April. LOL. Heres a few out of that bag.Prob would have been alot better with a fruiting chamber, but that was just an experiment-playing around/trying out a long=gone vendors 'new compost'.

No the term "inoculation points" refers to an aspect of spawn. It has no bearing here.
The black area is cheap, black duct tape that I used to make the bottom of the bag opaque.
I recommend that you build a SGFC for your blocks. This is by far the safest method for maintaining fruiting conditions.
First, let the blocks colonized 100% and then let it consolidate. (you can wait until you see pins) You needn't case the result to get mad fruits.
Good luck,
JD

You can dunk these like a giant PF cake. (I'm pretty sure at least)

Cool I'll definitely put black duct tape around the bag when it comes time for fruiting.
I just crumbled up the substrate bags to spread out the mycelium.
Wow you sure can smell the mycelium! Nice earthy mushroomness.

Also, these bags seem quite dry. Is this a possibility? The only thing sealing them at the top is tape...

I never crumbled them up because if there was even a TINY bit of contam in the block, crumbling would just spread it around. Its not likely, but it can happen. Yes they can dry out. Tape is fine. Give them a few days and see how they recover from the 'crumble'. If they are too dry they wont really recover, they will just stay in the crumbled state.
But I bet ya you will be fine.

So if they don't recover from the crumbled state, will I have to open them up and mist them?
I hope there was no contam in them, I don't think there was because of the pure smell they had of soil and mushrooms.

I always remashed the contents of the mycobag entirely, after about 20% colonization became obvious, and never once had a contam in a mycobag. I had it down cold.

You want to keep the bag shut until the sub is fully colonized.
A slightly dry sub is much preferred over a slightly wet sub.
When you pick the bag up, you are feeling the water weight to a large degree. Do they feel light?
If there is no option, then you can boil a syringe, fill it with sterile water, and inject it into the bag. Do not open the bag to do this!
Good luck,
JD
