512 dollars.... a little more than I can spend at the moment...

On a brighter note, I borrowed it from the library yesterday, so I have it now for at least 1 month.

That is pretty cool. In America you cannot take any rare book from the library.

I should mention that about 75% of all articles pertaining to Psilocybine mushrooms have been excised from journals int he Pacific Northweest in many university libraries.

Even my article on Hawaiian shrooms fromt he journal of Ethnopharmacology had the photos of species cut out by students recently. It was brought to my attention from a friend who went ot look the article up.

Luckilly I still had the slick paper reprint from when I wrote the article to give them to replace the stolen photo pages from the journal. Now I have no copy.

Here at the U of W. They have Mushrooms Russia and History by Valentina and R. Gordon Wasson. You cannot remove it from the rare book room. You have to leave a major credt card and Drivers liscense just to look at it. They do not have the Heim Wasson books. however, all of the original articles in French from Comptus Rendu, Revue de Mycol, Deux Suppl. and Nouv Review have also been stolen fromthe journals.

Same at the University of Hawaii which also has a copy.

I also contributed a copy of the Heim Wasson books, autographed to me by Wasson tot he universtiy of Oregon's Library. You cannot check those out either. And can only look at them in a rare book room.

You must have some status there to be able to take them home as they are fragile. Are the pages cut in the copy you borrowed.

many copies had the pages uncut so there were two pages together.

Actually everybody who is a member at the library can borrow it for 1 month.
There wasn?t a copy avaliable in Austria, so they shipped it from Zurich, Switzerland.

The pages are perfectly normal and cut, except for a few tables that go over 2 pages which can be opened up to make one big page.

YEs, any books like that inthe USA cannot be checkd out. Not even Professors with tenure can check them out to their offices. You can only look at them behind closed doors.

mj

Books like taht are irreplacable.

Damn Your lucky to be able to check that out. In america you cant even check out dictionaries or encyclopedia's. They have a specific room for them where you can sit and look at them like Mj said. Did you have to go to a major library to find that book?

IS your library a public library or a Universoity or college library or school of higher learning?
