Cubensis porn/ side pinning investigation

Hello beautiful commuters of this beautiful community! Thought I would share some grow pictures with ya'll :] This is an unknown strain (either texans, pf, or amazonian) colonized on hydrated rye in quart and pint jars, spawned to 100% coir in tupperware containers, then cased with a 1/4 inch layer of 100% vermiculite. I have always had problems with side pinning, so this grow I experimented with duck taping the sides and lining the inside with plastic I cut from a trash bag. I only did this on a couple tupperwares partly because I wanted to see the differences side by side, and partly because I am lazy . I don't have pictuers of those tupperware singled out but I'm planning on taking some when I get the chance so you can see how I did it and hopefully you can give me some suggestions on why I'm still getting pins forming on the sides.
Now for some porn- These were two of the smaller tupperware that exploded before any other ones.

The set up as of 4-5 days ago-

yesterday-

Took this yesterday also, this is my favorite so far

This is a jar I was saving to do some jar to jar transfers, but it had other plans :p

So thats whats going on so far, If anyone has any comments, suggestions, criticisms, questions please feel free to share them! I will be updating this at least once a week, thank you for your time! Love you guys

100% vermiculite is not a good casing material, which may explain why there is not much going on for some of those on the top layer. Without something to grab onto, the mycelium will not thread through the vermiculite correctly to allow good primordia formation. The upper-most bulks that have better top-pinning do not look as if they are cased the same as the others.

Nice work!
I do not mind side pinning. They are just more challenging to harvest.
Looks like they out-grew your expectations (since you have no room in your tub). I don't even use tubs anymore, I use flowerpots (black/opaque plastic to reduce side pin formation) with plastic film on top in a similar way. Or to-go containers from restaurants. They will push the clear plastic lid up when they grow.

Hmmm I see.. All of them were cased at the same time, they just don't seem to be activating all at the same time. Perhaps since I have one FC on top of the other, the top one is getting a better air flow? This is my first time using a casing layer also, so what would be a practical addition I could make to the verm to make a better casing layer for next time? Thank you for your comment!

Thanks Ackbar! Nice work also! commanding the rebel alliance and all Yeah side pinning isn't a tragedy or anything, I would just like to leave my bricks inside the tupperware containers for once haha.. And yes nearly all the jars came through, which was unexpected. So I had a little more than expected :p So you're saying you don't use a fruiting chamber anymore? Can you explain it a little if you dont mind?

Looking good man, keep up the good work. I was struck with some extreme nostalgia when looking at your FC pics haha. Looks a lot like mine come harvest time.

I don't seem to notice any difference in potency from grow to grow, or flush to flush. However, I do notice a difference in potency when I dose a couple large mushrooms as apposed to dosing a large amount of little mushrooms.

I have a question, A group of mushrooms that just finished maturing have this strange discoloration on the lower parts of their stems, I was wondering if anyone knows what this is?

you might actually have Verticillium. Most pictures people post of it turn out to be just mutants or some other problem but I think you've got the real thing. congrats.
I could be totally wrong though, there's a lot of confusing stuff out there on Verticillium.
You've got a disease of some sort for sure.
Best to wrap that in plastic and take it outside.

That is a parasitic fungi correct? Will it spread to other cakes? I did not pasteurize my verm casing, could that have caused it? Are they safe to dry and consume or should I get rid of them right away?

I would toss it.
I'n not 100% certain it's Verticillium. If it is vert, it will spread through spores and contaminate the rest of your grow.
Verticillium is supposed to be safe to eat but I've never tried it personally, also that could be some kind of bacteria causing rot. Wait for someone else to chime in to be sure but in the meantime
Just cover it up and toss it.
you've got a whole jar of dried mushrooms and the knowledge to make more. It shouldn't be a big loss.

I had something like that once. It spread to everything it touched (substrate and mushrooms). You should play it safe and toss the infected ones

It spread to all of the other cakes, including the ones in the other fruiting chamber :[ Is there any way to save them? Will those spores now be a threat to future grows taking place in the same area?
