piercings.
    #1559809 - 05/19/03 11:08 AM (20 years, 10 months ago)

I got some new piercings done.

They were bleeding quite a bit but now they have stopped. I usually have problems with piercings when I get them.

Whats the best way to take care of new piercings? I like to use H202.

I heard something about how you're not supossed to use H2O2 on new piercings because it kills new cell growth that is essential in the healing.

I've always used bactine and hot sea salt soaks on new piercings once or twice a day.

H202 OMG HORRIBLE STOP IMMEDIATELY!

Sea salt soaks, a 1/4 tea spoon per 8oz glass of water, or sterile saline (just saline, not contact solution, plain saline, nothing added) swabbed on and held on for 10 minutes.

I can only imagine why you normally have trouble with your piercings, my god. Does your piercer not provide you with proper instructions on aftercare?

Use Saline solution (you can buy it at any druig store for contact lenses, but make sure it says pure SALINE solution) I had my eyebrow pierced and was having a hell of a time keeping it clean and un-infected. Once started usingthe saline solution it healed up within a few days.

well the first piercing I got, the piercer spent the whole time I was there argueing with his girlfriend on his cell phone. It took 6 months to completely heal.

it was very funny as he was yelling out phrases such as: "get with the fucking program!"

He said, "If it turns green or something, come see me."

The second time (this time), the peircer advised me to clean it only with antibacterial soap.

These are only a few days old.

Bactine is good for facial piercings. For the mouth rinse with bio-tine or listerine. Discontinue the use of h202 immediatly unless you want a huge hole in your face, your body will start rejecting it if you don't

Im guessing h202 is Hydrogen Peroxide or whatever.

All these people are saying "stop! stop!".. But i have 4 piercings (3 I did myself) and have used H.Peroxide on all of them since the start and they all have turned out fine... I just heard your not suppose to use it on like belly button piercings.

Bactine is too strong and harsh on piercing and completely unneccessary, listerine has alcohol and must be diluted at least 50 50. All the most respected piercers in the world aswell as the association of professional piercers recommends sea salt for healing all piercings.

The piercer sounds unethical, personal life should not come into the shop under any circumstances, id find a new guy personallly...

you're going to the WRONG piercer - seriously - i have a piercer who is amazing she is the best and is extremely patient with my questions and shows me and tells me everything before, during and after the proceedure - I suggest you find someone like that as well.

I agree - bactine is too strong. Sea Salt soaks do nothing but soothe. If I were you - I'd do some Lavender oil soaks. I don't knwo what type of piercing this is - so if it's not oral - Lavender oil is good for you because it soothes and also has antibacterial properties.

keep your piercing dry but well moisturized. don't move it around - if you are going to move it around for cleaning - let it soak first so the skin that is attatching itself to the jewelry will loosen up and you don't have to aggrivate it as much. The more aggrivation to the skin during healing - the more scar tissue you will end up getting - you DONT want scar tissue.

Also if you dont wanna do lavender soaks - use Dial antibacterial soap and dilute it a little bit and wash your piercing with that. I have been usign it on my hood ring for about 5 weeks now and haven't had a single problem - infact it's healing WAY better than any other piercing i have/had.

I'm not having any infection.

I'm just been bleeding like a stuck fucking pig.

I went back and talk to the d00d today, and he looked at it and said that it looked like I yanked it in my sleep or something.

Fuck. Now I must some how bandage my ear.
