Pink Floyd's The Wall

Now I am planning on listening to The Wall on my next trip... The whole 2 cd, to experience the whole story while in altered state of conciousnes... Using head phones, loud volumes.
Now has anyone done this? To me the album is ultimately depressing, and frightening at times... I would like to hear some stories and experiences on this...
Thanks
Dave

Of course, the Matrix talks about a real world Matrix ;-)
But seriously - the entire Wall experience is a wild ride, harrowing in parts, and it keeps you focused...and is ultimately a redemption story. I did a Wall trip before and it was well worth it.

The Wall is great listening. The movie is good too, although the scene where he shaves his nipple off has disturbed me on higher level trips. Dark Side Of The Moon is their masterpeice and also wonderful trip music.

I've only managed to do a trip to the movie of the Wall, which was interesting. Quite depressing in parts, but overall, well worth it.

Sorry davikosack, but this topic has been discussed at length in many threads before... after a quick search I found the following two that may interest you - you can search for more, or if you have more unanswered questions, add them to one of the existing threads: Please, always use the search before starting new threads Edit: After realizing that this thread concentrates on the The Wall CD set, and most other threads cover the movie, I am reopening it for discussion. Please keep it on topic (eg. the musical album, not the film)

yes it does, they don't have to worry about a revolution/evolution because they're aware that the masses aren't aware to see it! How can one know he's in a matrix if he at first has no words for the matrix, because he is in a matrix?

With all do respect to The Wall, Pink Floyd has put out MUCH MUCH better trip albums. Get yourself a copy of Animals or Meddle and dose heavy.

For those whose not too familiar with the Wall, or has only listen to it on casual sitting, this site might help explaining it. In fact this is the best written analysis of the wall i've seen on www. Personally I rate The Wall best of PF.. follow by DSOTM, Animal and Wish you were here... http://home.mchsi.com/%7Ettint/Intro.html As for those who has only watched the film of the wall, try listening to the original album, using headphones. Offers much much more depth than the film. I think the film did not connect much with me on the personal level. With just the music, there's no boundary to the imagination... which brings me to the point of this post. Tripping on the album..

I find a lot of the music from The Wall to be quite dark. This isn't a feeling I always vibe with while tripping. I prefer it (my music) to be unique - with emotional fluctuation - but overall being a light-hearted/euphoric (entirely subjective, I realize) sound.
I think his DSOTM and particularly the Pulse (2-disc live) set exemplify his best works. The second disk of Pulse (essentially DSOTM live w/ Comfortably Numb & Run Like Hell as encores) is my absolute favorite for a psychedelic experience.
Though I'll admit I don't often listen to The Wall anymore merely because I view it in a bad light, I will give it another shot... and be interested to hear what people have to say furthermore on the album..

Animals has a nice groove to trip to, but it gets creepy in parts. Especially on the song Dogs , that depresses the hell out of me. As for The Wall, I find its a good album to listen to, but not really trip material. Its too epic and orchestrated for my tastes. I'd rate it about third after DSotM and Animals. I think everyone would agree on DSotM as an ideal trip album.

Which reminds me - a friend gave me a cd called "Dub Side of the Moon" which is a dub tribute to Dark Side of the Moon - it's actually quite good, obviously slightly lighter and their choice in variations on the sound effects is quite special

Sheep is by far the freakiest song on Animals, but I always find it pretty cool to trip to even if it messes with your head a bit.

Too depressing for me.
Call me crazy, but I like to feel happy feelings and have a good time while tripping.

Good call Leary, but I'm more a fan of A Saucerful of Secrets as opposed to Piper at The Gates of Dawn from the "early Floyd" (Syd's Floyd) collection.

Nothing wrong with "ASFOS". I love that album to. Infinitely better to trip to than The Wall.

How about the song on the WORKS album, i am not sure what album it came from originally, but try listening to
"Several Species of Small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving to a pict"
fucking trippy, slightly satanic but really mindblowing in a cathartic cleansing way!
