Should I feed cows contaminated cakes?
    #1558908 - 05/18/03 11:51 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I just found one of my cakes that was contaminated and thought I should give this a try.
There's a field with many cows nereby. If I was to feed a few cakes to the cows how long should it take to get shrooms from them? And if that works I should only have to feed them cakes once...right. How long will they shit shrooms?
If I have this all f^ please correct me. thanks

If there are no shrooms, there are no spores. They prolly aren't going to fruit in the cow's stomach. Spores could probably survive their digestive system, but if the shrooms aren't sporulating it does no good.

Besides, just because the spores survive in the shite, it doesn't imply that shrooms will definatly grow out of their crap -- this is a matter of chance. Feeding them spores, though, IMO, would probably increase the liklyhood, but it still wouldn't be that great. Never tried it, though -- feel free.

By contamed do you mean, Mold and Other types, if so that might make the cows sick, also the spores would not survive the stomach ride.

Mushroom spores reportedly DO survive the ride through the cow?s intestines.

spores do survive..but if shroom spores survive so will the contams spores...and you could make the cow sick like someone already said...I wouldn't do it

wouldn't want to get the cows sick. just thought it wouldn't sense they eat all kinds of contaminated grasses off the grown.

Hello,

Some cows are greedy about their Shrooms and they account for eating a portion of the Shrooms on the ground.

About the cakes.
-First of all, you could make the cow sick from feeding it contamination,
--Second of all, vermiculite is not to be digested by anyone.
---And third, i am sure that it would make for some rather messy and sloppy constipation of the bovine.
----Forth, you probably couldnt even get them to eat it,

The mycelium will not survive

Spores do survive through the stomach, but no mycelium.
-though mjshroomer might detest this because he has posted
photographs of copelandia mushrooms in hawaii fruiting
Shrooms off of it proportubly from freshly laid turd.
--Though i am skeptical if that story is authentic.

Cows do in fact eat Cubensis and they also eat the Copelandia's.
-They trip and they walk and they love to be poopin,
Out in the pastures they be poopin and trippin all day long.

Keep shroomin,
GGreatOne234

Mycelium no, spore yes.
Nothing better that explain things with some experience.

I dont think cows have stomach acids, they just regurjitate (sp?) and rechew it, at least not in the sense of stomach acids we have.

in nature, cows eat grass w/spores in it. because of their multiple stomachs, no acid is present like there is in humans and does not kill them. they are then shit out the back end, germinating and in the perfect place to begin growing mycelium with all the nutrients surrounding the spores.

Those cows will be fed to the general public and they'll all get diarrhea from your contam'd cake. That's just wrong.
