drying idea.. (for larger quantities)

a set of racks in a enclosed airtight container for the mushies. an air input and output, from the air output, it gets piped into a second air tight container filled with baffles of your drying agent. from there it gets pumped thru a hepa filter and then back into your container.
the mushies never get near the drying agent, the hepa filter keeps the air going in over the mushies clean and the drying agent baffles can be replaced as necessary.
oost wise.. a hepa filter, a fan, some box material, wire mesh, 4" pipe for airflow i think one could make such a beast for under/about 100$ and it would be capable of drying shrooms fast.. cuz of the amount of air exchange
coments? concerns? ideas? keep on thinking...

Well, I think that is a bit much for drying. It is a good idea, but you don't have to worry about contamination when they are drying. My betta dries about 20pounds of wet every week and it only costs him about 15 dollars. He uses a rubber maid container, decadent, and screen like material. The shrooms dry in about 3 days. The decadent needs to be replace once or twice a month and the other materials are good forever. My betta is a cheap bastard what can I say.

haha yeah, letsee I have a hepa.. all i need is to make some drying racks... i'm thinking a rubbermaid bin, but i dont know if it would be air tight enough... maybe seal it with silicone for the duration of drying time... :/
i'll have to figure something out in a month or two.. i've got babies who are incubating right now... so if they pan out then i'm gonna need this.

Let me tell you what is setup in my betta's house, because I doubt you will be harvesting more than 20 pounds a week and his system has been working for years.
He has a large walk-in closet(specifically for drying). Once you walk into this closet you will see 15 rubber maid containers with screen wire sitting where the lid are suppose to be and duct tape wrapped around the container a few times for durability. A heater is in the closet set at 82 degrees and decadent is lying on the bottom of each rubber-maid container.
Rubber maid container - 10 dollars Decadent - 4 dollars screen wire 4 dollars a role ( one role does about 8 tubs) Heater - bought at thrift store for 8 dollars You can do a fancy setup if you want to spend the money and have the time, but for me time is money.

Simple cheap way is to use a 5 gallon plastic bucket, with a small squirrel cage fan fitted on the lid. Then drill some 1/4 inch vent holes around the base of the bucket. Use screen door screen (or whatever) to hold the shrooms in the bucket.
For a bigger op, build a box (whatever size you want) out of particle board, with multiple racks (screen door type screens). Squirrel cage fan on top, drill vent holes around the base. Install 100 watt light bulb inside the box that the fan blows over to provide minimal heat. Works like a walnut dryer.

How bout the "BORG" works for my foaf ;-) Not so much for real large quantities but works good for 200-300 gm. flushes.
