Idk where you guys are from. But where I am from absolutely nobody watches or cares about the NBA. Maybe it's as a result of not having a team nearby? IDK, we all like hockey more.
Basketball in general is not regarded as popular. Some college, but it doesn't have a huge following.

Does something need to be "regarded as popular" for you to be interested in it? I hope not.
I live in Seattle, where a majority of the population is still butt sore about the Sonics being hijacked outta here to Oklahoma City. I know so many people who completely gave up on the NBA after that happened. They don't care about or watch basketball anymore. To me, those people were never really basketball fans to begin with. I'm just as pissed off about the OKC deal, but I'm also passionate about the sport. I could never just decidedly be done with it. I played and followed basketball my entire life.
I think basically, there are people who are passionate about a sport, and then others who just want to "root for the home team". Most fall into the latter category.
I hear from old dudes all the time, that "oh the NBA ain't what it used to be". I always laugh at these guys, because I know that there's just as much talent in the game right now as there ever was (and yes I watched all those great rivalries in the late 80's and 90's). There are some deplorable things about the system and structure of the NBA, and David Stern is a fucking joke of a person for sure. The game itself though, the fierce competition and athletic prowess, is still poetry in motion, and very worth watching imo.

Cavs are in a rebuilding year. Anything close to .500 will be a success. Then if we can get a big man in the next draft or FA class, then we will be set.

Last nights game was awesome, I love me some Heat losing.
I have always kind of liked the Clippers (and most underdogs for that matter) but now that they have Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups they are actually a legitimate contender in the West.
I am loving some of the new powers in the NBA. The emergence of Oklahoma City, the Knicks, and the Clippers are the big stories. Shame the Knicks couldnt accommodate a trade to have gotten them CP3. I think the Knicks are missing 1 piece to be an actual matchup for the Heat in a 5-7 game series.
My Power Rankings right now: East- Bulls 10-2 (A+), Heat 8-3 (A) , Knicks 6-4(B+) , Orlando 7-3 (B), Atlanta 7-4 (B), 76er's 7-3 (B), Indiana 7-3 (B) West- Oklahoma City 10-2 (A+), Lakers 8-4 (A), Utah 6-4 (B+), Portland 7-3 (B+), Spurs 7-4 (B+), Denver 7-4 (B), Clippers 5-3 (B)

jordan's block in with 13 seconds left was a Goal tend and ref didnt call it !
then Heat fouled 3 times to stop the time but ref didnt call any and that lead to a dunk on the other end for the clippers !
i have never seen Couch Spo THIS MAD ! ( that he got ejected)
again i say the ref job sucked and killed the game ! NOT COOL !

I didnt watch the end. We left at half time. My roommate isnt as into sports as I am, so when we go to Outback, Hooters, or whatever to watch a game I can usually only get him to stay for half of it.
I dont care if the ref blocked the Heats final shot attempt cause them to lose. Any way they lose puts a smile on my face and makes me feel better about the Cavs being 4-5

I think the Cavs will be a solid team within the next few years. I've got Tristan Thompson on my fantasy roster. He's only averaging like 15 or so minutes per game, but he blocks a ton of shots. He's gonna be a beast.

I keep it realistic though, even the fact that we just finished up a 7 game road trip and have a record of 6-6 (7th overall in the East) is a miracle alone. Byron Scott just needs to keep coaching the kids up and hope we can get a big man in the draft/ FA to pair up with Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson.
Kyrie Irving has a lock on Rookie of the Year unless he gets hurt. Kid has been tearing it up
