Its been about three weeks snice i birthed my first cake. At first i had the cake in a poor mans terrarium. Then when 4 other of my cakes were colonized i built a larger fruting chamber using perlite humidification, and manual fanning at least 2 times daily but more often than not about 5 or 6 times a day. I have a digital thermometer and hydgrometer combo that sits in the fruting chamber. The humidity is always between 90 and 99 percent. The temp averages about 72.5 degrees. My promblem is that some furry myceliuym started to grow on the cakes, but seemed to stop lately. I have seen no formation of pins and the mycelium seems rather dry, even though the hygdrometer claims the average humidity is 95 percent. Im lost and do not know what do to. When do i know its time to abort, and give up? What could i be doing wrong? Please help.

The fuzzy mycelium was growing cause it was too humid. I think it stopped growing cause you started fanning it out 5-6 times a day which is too much IMO. Are you exposing it to light? Try shining compact flourescent lamp over it for a few hours a day, like 4-5. If that doesn't work, you can cold shock....

4 of the five cakes i have now are PF Strian (Matias Remero) and one of them is B+ strain. "Kilingon from your anus" i have it exposed now to a plant light for 5-6 hrs a day, but before i was exposing it to my closet light for half the day. The new plant light brings the temperature up to 75 degrees, which i suppose its better. Do you think my temp is too low at 72.5 degree? I will fan it only twice a day now, and i will wait a week with the new changes, then ill try dunking it and cold shocking it if i see no results. Although lately, when the plant light is not on the temp drops to about 68 degrees. This is due to the change in weather, and now i do not put the heat on because its spring making it slightly colder in my home. So the temp in my fruiting chamber is 75 degrees 4-5 hrs a day, and about 68-70 the rest of the day. Could this being slowing growth?
