a new myco enviroment idea
    #1557364 - 05/18/03 05:23 AM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Well my idea is too make a colonized straw cake inside of a big plastic cylinder. in the cylinder will be PVC pipes with misters inside of them they will let the moisture go in the tube then through holes into the cake...the Plastic bin will also have draws that can be pusihed in and out to add poo. Do you think this is a good idea.. would it be able to keep one big cake going for a while cause you can keep adding nutrients...if this is dumb sorry heh......heres a couple pics

Seems a little overboard to me, but by all means try it if you'd like.

I still do the mix-everything-up-in-a-bin-and-let-it-sit tek. I'm lazy.

Yeah -- straw. It would be very hard to add nutrients for the mycelium any way besides bulk substrate because everything would have to be kept sterile. They do it in labs, though -- it's called continuous culture.
