Contamination or mutant shroom? (pic included)

On one developing mushroom, I see this strange and hell it looks like a sea brain sponge growing on the end. (please check the pic).



Is this a mutated shroom, or is it some weird organism that's making dinner out the shroom? This cake is on 2nd flush. There's been no contamination period in anything I have done thus far.

Any input much appreciated. :smile:

looks like no contam i've seen but seems like sterile gill tissue or like the tissue from the inside of the stem, seems like a mutant but i haven't seen this particular mutation or growth before.  Very interesting pic  :laugh:

That's a genetic deformation commonly known as "Rosecomb" and it's perfectly ok, that's just a cap growing upside down and i ain't kidding .
I've seen a few now and then, this deformation belongs to term known as "freaks" but i'll leave that for the geeks.
I like freaks :smile: !

MAIA, "rosecomb", thanks on the input and the terminology. I guess "rosecomb" is the mycology version of fasciation.
