Unfinished cake... cased?

One of my jars was 75% colonized, hadnt grown at all for a week (it was fully colonized inside, except the end) I outline the new growth on all the jars.
Anyway, I prepared some 'casing verm', and put everything in my glove box (Thanks to Office Depot for the box) and put a layer of damp verm in the bottom of a cup.
Then I opened the PF jar, scraped off the dry verm that was stuck to the top of the cake, and slid the cake out, cutting the uncolonized section off about 1/4 inch above it (in the colonized area) The colonized 3/4 of the cake were fully colonized, so I broke it in to gravle sized pieces, put them in the cup, and cased with more wet verm, now its covered and in the incubator to recover.
Will anything happen besides contams? If anything, I'm not expecting a full flush

It will probably colonize the verm inside the cup, you might be able to case it again in a bigger container and get a full flush after it colonizes the verm.

Sounds good, but isn't 3/4 of a cake a pretty tiny casing?

Don't listen to what lemunhed said. You are correct. Just fruit is once the casing is colonized.

Thanks. Yeah 3/4 is a small casing, hell, 1 is a small casing. All the other jars will be done in a few days, I just got impatiant with that one, since it hadnt grown at all in a week.
So, I'll get a few less mushies, I can atleast make prints if it doesnt contam ;-)

The crumbled cake area seems to be recovering well, its already looking like a solid mass again, through the side of the cup (wrapped in duct tape, i took it back to look) I should wait until it colonizes the plain old wet verm? Or just until its had enough time to recover?
