I played in the beta a few times (and loved it) but for some reason just haven't been too eager to actually purchase the game and start playing as soon as possible. maybe cause I've already played it a bunch in the beta (which just kept getting better and better with every wave) but also cause I've been busy IRL. Normally I'd have preordered it a month in advance and coutning down till the head start.
Anyways, I got paid today and was bored after work so I finally bought it but I don't really have anyone to play with. Does anyone else play? if so what server/faction?

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

Ah well I've made a sith Assassin on the Anchorhead PvP server, I figure if I ever want to heal though I will probably make a Jedi consular. but I've been enjoying my assassin so far.

Bah I've already put like 15 hours of time into my char and wouldn't wanna have to redo it all.. :/ They don't have character transfers yet.. which is a disappointment but they're supposed to be working towards em, I hope they offer them for free like Rift or at least one free one per month or something. But I'm afraid that most likely wont be the case as it comes from EA/Bioware..

I am on "Gaunlet of Kressh" server for anyone who wants to game it up.
I have a level 9 Trooper and a Level 1 Sith Warrior.
Game is pretty damn sick

I dont like the warrior/jedi as much as I do the Trooper/Bounty Hunter
I had to stop playing. My laptop can barely handle it and when I get to complex zones its slow as fuck

trying to work on my fps right now, wish it had more graphics options, had to drop the resolution down a step, turn off aa, and overclock my graphics card to get smooth play.

How do you overclock a graphics card? I dont think I can overclock my graphics card.. I have been playing around with my graphical settings as well. It would run smooth in the open areas but as soon as I get to Coruscunt or somewhere with lots of buildings and shit it turns to complete hell.
All my other system requirements are pretty good. 4GB RAM and 2.6Ghz Processor
edit- yeah looks like my shitty little laptop's card cant be overclocked

pro tip for graphics:
change graphics to high, click apply, wait for shit to reload, change graphics to low, hit apply.
i have no idea why, and nobody else does either, but this actually changes the settings. changing them to low from the default settings doesnt do it for some reason.
also, turn the shadows off.
i had my settings (i thought) on low from day one and was always wondering why i couldnt make em lower, since the game still looked really good. then i read about this little tip and lo-and-behold the game looks sufficiently shitty now for me to have no more graphics lag issues.

Thanks, I am going to give that a try now. I was able to adjust them on Beta and not have too many issues. If not I guess I will say fuck it.
I guess I can always wait and buy a desktop in a month or two

Here's a little trick for those of you with smartphones. Download "PhoneMyPc" and you can do crew gathering missions while you aren't even home.
