Acadian coast monotub (pix) UPDATE: Australian monobuckets XMAS harvest
#15556807 - 12/22/11 11:10 PM (11 years, 1 month ago) |

It's been a while since I posted pics, so here we go...these were just taken today. 6 quarts WBS spawned to 1 brick coir, 2quarts verm and 1/4 cup gypsum. I <3 monotubs. MS grow. Shrooms weren't as tall as I would have liked them to be but not really complaining. Much larger flushes could be attained by using higher amounts of spawn///adding spent coffee grounds to mix. If someone has questions feel free to ask.

post harvest

And here's a pic of one of my Australian monobuckets...should be ready to harvest in 3-4 days.

Hope you liked these!!

What was the yield? Good stuff man
That is a mean pin set you have going there, monobuckets are the greatest!

Pretty much. I do 3 buckets at a time. Use the same amount of substrate, spread it as evenly as I can among 3 buckets, add 2 quarts spawn to each bucket. A little substrate will be left over but not much.

what did you use to cover the holes in your mono bucket? looks like tyvek or micropore? Im thinking of doing one of those, i got a bucket sitting around with a clear cover.

Very nice yields.
Noticed a lot of substrate attached to your harvested boomers...do you plan on re-hydrating/dunking for a second flush? If you are, I'd suggest not ripping up and damaging so much of the substrate. It takes a lot of energy for the mycelium to repair itself, which could be used to produce more fruits instead.
I slice mine with a pruning shears or scissors right at the stem base and leave the entire substarte intact.

I've been doing monotubs/buckets for a while now...I've really been kicking myself in the head lately though...I worked exclusively with the PF tek for over a year, once I realized how easy it really was to do monotubs I made the switch and never looked back.

I think my holes are 3/8 inch. Also put a shower cap on top. Then use micropore tape. You could also use polyfil or tyvek..

That's inspiring brotha, I'm on my first grow. It's like a big experiment for me to find out what I like more and how to do it. when I left on friday, 10 of my cakes were colonizing, hopefully when I get back the ones I inoc'ed later will be showing signs. I have like 21 in total right now, lost a few to moisture.

Love the pics, such great grows. I am currently planning my own monotub project, with some pf cakes though as well. Doing a bunch of smaller monotubs involving a few different strains sounds like fun though, see which ones I like best.
Out of curiosity, why did you go with the strains you did?
