At least under Clinton the economy was good enough to hire someone to clean the carpet. I heard they had to sell the carpet in the White House to make ends meet. Its alright, G. W. likes the rustic barn-like feel of hay floors. He can walk around in his cowboy hat at all times now.

It's a tad simplistic to think that any President has that much control over the economy. Remember he had a Republican Congress to keep his spending habits in order.

Actually I don't really want to get pulled into the issue of our "bipartisan" system. I'm not qualified. The way I see it, Clinton and Bush are just two different examples of the lousy types of candidates our system, as it goes currently, is capable of producing come election time. Clinton is smarmy evil, Bush is Moral highground evil.
