God damn, they ARE as bad as they seem.
This weird mental examiner/therapist told me she doesn't think I have ADD, even though I'm 95% sure, and I was almost the same as my little bro when I was his age, and I'm 95% sure he has full blown ADHD. Compulsions and all.
Gah, I wanna get a script.

Plus, I'm genuinely worried it's getting worse.

It totally sucks when you know what you have and you know what you need. I hate it cause then you come off looking like a drug seeker.

Not too bad in my case. I'm just asking her for a diagnosis, but she still doesn't think I have it.

I used to think I had ADD like three years ago. I went to like 3 therapists to try and get diagnosed. All of them, as well as the tests they consistently gave me concluded that I did not. I didn't believe them at first, but it became increasingly obvious that 2/3rds of the symptoms for ADD can apply to anyone in the world, and that there are much much better ways of getting focused.
If you don't have any luck getting diagnosed, I truly recommend getting some fish oil and popping like 6 of them a day. Getting hydrated for real and drinking a gallon of water a day. Eating a balanced diet (less garbage, more real whole foods and vegetables) and taking vitamins B and C regularly.
That, and you really have to force yourself to learn how to be focused. If you're the kind of person who has 10 internet browsers open with multiple tabs on each jumping from page to page, then take a breather and really force yourself to read an entire page of something you are interested in. Read an entire book from cover to cover in a couple sittings. Write a 6 page essay with correct grammar and correct essay structure for no reason. Write the essay with correct sourcing and don't just rant. Use something like google calendars or a date book to plan your week out, and this is the important one - stick to your plan.
It might seem rather pointless to do something like plan when you eat and sleep. It may seem pointless to write essays that wont get a grade. And it may seem pointless to force a diet that has no immediate effects on your focus. But you'll find that when you can commit yourself to following your own goals, you train your mind to keep doing it and focus becomes an easier obstacle to tackle in the future.
