if they are black dont sniff them, but if you have solid white and your not quite sure. every mushroom has a distinct smell associated with it.
you will learn to know your species smell.
toss the jars and start again. Quote:

I'm no expert, but I doubt those black spots are spores. I wouldn't even risk this...not worth it in the long run. Between health issues and ruining future grows, toss them bitches

that way i know my inoculant isnt my contamination vector. that leaves only my sterilization or my sterile tek while inoculation to blame for contams i encounter.
I always start spore prints on agar. The only ones that go straight to grain for me, are vendor syringes.
What you have in your jars looks very nasty. It's black, for one. I recently had a jar get infected with black stuff. When I attempted to move the jar and accidentally set it down too hard, the black poofed up and formed a nasty black cloud inside the jar. Needless to say, I abandoned all thought of saving the jar and threw the whole thing out without ever opening it.

I have never read anything about agar, but I have heard about it.
Any helpful links?
And im giving these two more days, if they get worse ill take them out to my apartments dumpster without even opening the airtight tub they are in.
I have thrown away plenty of jars that had minor cracks in them or minor rust on the lids... so I have no problem tossing them out.
I'd love to get some nice, new jars anyways

Looks like you did something terribly wrong.
And using a full pint jar isn't appropriate for PF tek.....

Sorry dude. I thought this because the 1/4 pints look like the 1/2 pints you should use while the taller ones I assumed was a full pint.
Odd.

Those jars are definitely contaminated. there is absolutely no way those black spots are spores. Looks like the contamination came from your syringe because it appears to start at the inoculation points.
Search the forum for agar teks, that will be your only route to clean up dirty prints.
Good luck

I think I just fell in love... there goes my social life for the next couple days- I just discovered the world of agar god dammit lol
Here's an update for y'all too:
I isolated 6 jars from my contaminated grow that showed NO signs of anything other than healthy mycelium...
and left all the others inside an airtight tub in a closed off room on the other side of mi casa.
I have taken many pics and written down a few observations on this grow, maybe I'll post the whole thing in the contamination forum, along with information many of you have told me, so I can hopefully help other people in similar fixes.
thanks fellas

MMMMMMMM, so glad I read this thread, nothing like black mold growing in your lungs and killing you slowly over time.
