Police say PTA president gave pot, wine to teens

Bergen, New York-AP -- A P-T-A president in western New York is accused of giving marijuana and wine to his 14-year-old daughter and her friends.

James Howard was charged yesterday with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and four counts of unlawfully dealing with a child.

Police say Howard gave his daughter and two other teens a small amount of marijuana as he drove them around on April eleventh. A sheriff's department investigator says a fourth girl in the car refused to smoke the pot.

After they returned to his home, Howard allegedly gave all four girls a glass a wine.

Howard is the longtime president of the Parent-Teacher Association at Byron-Bergen Central School, a rural district west of Rochester.

District officials say the case is a police matter.

I know of alot of ppl that were introduced to marijuana by there rents. But I also live in Canada.

One of the reasons marijuana is illegal today because growers in the 30s lobbied against hemp farmers -- they saw it as competition, because It is not chemically addictive as is nicotine, alcohol, or caffeine.
