put lids on them, then when theres lots of mycelium put filters on. You can get tyvek filter paper from your post office. It works better than coffee filters. For small microbes, a coffee filter is like walking through trees... if that made any sense.

If you are growing Brown Rice Flour / Verm cakes there is no need to use filters.

If you are growing Birdseed, Rye Grain, Popcorn, etc...you would use a filter.

And you wouldn't use coffee filters...you would use Tyvek or Micron filters.

MM filters are a good product...same basic properties as tyvek but a little more costly....order from the website and they are pretty cheap....

I've seen Magash put Coffee filters on his jars, with rubberbands when the jars are fairly cover in mycelium. It increases air exchange, and should help mycelium growth if it has slowed down.

cuffee filters arent as effective, if you have a vermiculite layer then it doesnt really matter too much, but the cant filter to 3 microns like tyvek or micron magic filters can....
