too upset
    #15536639 - 12/18/11 07:06 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I feel like crap. I noticed I had premature pinning this morning and freaked out....bad mistake...I birthed the cakes...smelled like shrooms, (never felt myc), and seemed fine. I didnt remove most of the  un colonized cake yet and I am freaking.. should I cut it down the middle and scoop out the innards then fruit? I aint giving up...so any other option would be great

ps. luckily it was only 3 of my jars >.>

I did the same with my jars, only one wasn't fully colonized and had a triangle shape spot on the top of the cake when i birthed.  i ended up getting lucky, it finished colonizing in the FC and was fine.  i would say keep a close eye on it, but you might wanna move it to a seperate FC just in case. if it does get contam'd, it will ruin the other cakes in the FC it's in.

Mix up some coir/verm quick and use the uncolonized cakes as spawn. Make a small bulk grow. That's what I'd do. Chances are not good that your cakes will not contaminate if there is a lot of uncolonized area.

Not a bad option, just make sure you don't expose it to FAE at all when you are colonizing.

That will give you a little experience with different methods. It's all a learning experience. A small bulk grow isn't hard and you really have nothing to lose but have everything to gain. You still have more jars. Do both.

It might help if you rinse it while trying to remove the uncolonized areas. Any uncolonized sub left on there will be a huge risk for contamination, you want to see nothing but white.
