hi guys, i found this single mushie in sydney... it was growing in leaf mulch under some ferns in a rainforest. it seems to have bruised blue in some bits and round the edges of the gills. heres some pics i took with a friends digicam... sorry about the poor quality, but hopefully they'll do! i'm guessing at a species of p. subaeruginosa, possibly australiana? currently taking a spore print. cheers, jimbu

bump
after being in my drawer taking a sporeprint for 6 hours, the mushroom seems to have dried and looked very similar to the left most mushroom in this photo of p.australiana.
http://www.ethnobotany-australia.net/gallery/bm_aust_01.jpg
further blueing was evident around the edges.
the sporeprint was a chocolate brown.
confirmation this is a psilocybe, perhaps australiana, anyone?

IT is a PSilocybe subaeruginosa a luittle mutated cap. Here is a photoshop correction ofm one of your images here. Very nobby cap but had a pleated edge from a tight growth. mjshroomer Looks like maybe P. australiana since it has an umbo, or its a distormed mutated P. subaeruginosa. Better specimens would be very helpful thoughy with better photographs. Put the shrooms on the scanner next time. They make for good pictures. mj

thanks for the ID!
it is a fairly mutated specimen, isnt it!?
i was almost certain it was a p. sub, due to the blue bruising, closely packed gills... especially when the cap lightened up substantially after lying in my draw making a spore print for only 6 hours...
seeing as this was our only specimen from our recent hunt, me and a friend ate half each. i wasn't expecting anything at all, seeing as the dosage was so small, however we were pleasantly surprised - a moderate change in mood (thats the best way i can describe it!) faint closed eye visuals in time to music and music was sounding very very beautiful.
i can't wait to sample a larger dose of this species
cheers, jimbu

Yeah its certainly Subaeruginosa - Australiana is the same as Subaeruginosa, so the previous classification applies. Enjoy him!

Hey Jimbu are they as big as they look in the photo? The wavy capped buggers are usually big - i've measured some up to about 15cm in diameter lately - they also look damn scary.....
