SGFC out on my patio...will it work?
    #15528290 - 12/16/11 09:43 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I might need to segregate my bulk tray from my cakes due to possible GREEN BITCH, and the only way to do that, is to put it on my patio. So I was thinking of putting it in another SGFC outside since it is pinning. This is my first grow so I would like to see this try get through it's first flush. Any opinions on this, will it work outside?

The tray is 4 brf cakes spawned to 50/50 coir/verm 1:1. The temps outside are 55 to 60's at night, and lower to mid 70's during the day.

You cant really tell in the pic, but there is a greenish hue.

just throw it in the dirt and cover it up with some leaves. You might be happy with what happens next. But if you think you can get away with a small fc on your patio you could try that too.

I live in a apartment complex and people have dogs that piss everywhere and there's really no place to bury it. I want to try my patio and see what happens, but the tray has not got any greener, if indeed it is green and my eyes aren't fucking with me!!!

Looks more yellow to me. I'm new to this but I've seen similar colorations that experienced folks said was metabolites from the myc.  And I have had trich in a couple of my jars so far and it is definitely not a "questionable" green - it's very obvious.

Wait for a truster cultivator though...

edit: looks like there's a blue tint to your picture, as if maybe you have that in a blue terrarium?  blue terrarium + yellow metabolites = green illusion?

well I put it outside this morning, it is definitely green!!! I have it in a blue tray and there is metabolites, but that bad boy got a visit from that green bitch. So far the RH is fine and there is no direct sun hitting it.....so all I can do now is wait and report back.

It may be wish full thinking, but after a good solid 3 hours the tray seems to be doing AWESOME, the little mushies seem to be....plumper? more robust?...I guess healthier in a way. I.m going to put my laptop down and  take a pic of it...be right back...

For some reason the green doesn't show up in the pic....and I am not crazy, even my wife see's it!!!

Everything still looks good, but the temp is around 55 right now and might go lower.

Trichoderma grows BRIGHT, THICK WHITE and smells like dirt before it goes green (producing spores).

Are you sure you don't have metabolites or bruising?

To answer your question .... yes you can put that FC outside.  I have done all my fruiting in monotubs outside for a long time.  my temps are milder than yours low of 60 to 65 .. highs of 80 degrees F ... in the shade/shade with a nice breeze blowing.

That nice fresh air is your best defense against trichoderma.

good luck.

edit:  this is what trichoderma looks like.

Well it definitely doesn't have a green patch like that. It's weird, there is a green tint, and when you look closer it looks like some kind of green dust or something. Whatever it is, it's not spreading or getting noticeably worse.

That looks yellow to me. I doubt it's trich, spread out the way it is. You say it looks powdery, if you brush it with a cotton swab you'll be able to see if it's spores or not, but just because something doesn't come off doesn't mean it can't be a contam.

I'd put some loose polyfil in some of the holes though(easier than it sounds), humidity might be an issue.

Good luck man!
