Does anyone know a thread for worm castings and verm.

I did some searching for a while lastnight and couldn't find any thread that specifically answered my question. I want to know if using worm castings and verm. with a spawn will produce good girls. All of the threads I read were about worm castings and straw, but I am sick of dealing with straw. Any help with a thread would be appreciated.
Respectfully, Moldy

the thing about using worm castings with straw is that they are primarily a nutritive additive used to help get a little more out of the straw.
straw tends to play out in a flush or two and then goes ka-put.
by substituting straw with something non-nutritive like vermiculite, I begin to wonder if there would even be enough goodness in such a substrate to support good fructification.
I know I've never seen or heard of any such thing, worm casting usage is pretty sparse anywho.
most people talk about trying it, but never follow up which makes me think that there's not much glory to be had...
these are just some train of though ramblings from someone who really doesn't know shit.
how about the standard:
"why don't you give it a try and report back to us?"

It is in the oven as we speak. I will report back with the results. This needs to be settled once and for all.

Worm casings produce potent shrooms. The key is to case it and patch it for an even pinset. But that goes for all casings. Sometimes worm casings will pack down and if so add course verm like you suggested. But make sure that it is course. If it is not and you do not have access to any course verm, go get some perlite. Yes it works great to airate the substrate as long as it is steralized with substrate. Just use about 20%. And it wont weaken the substrate at all just take up more space and help with airation. You will still have the same amount of substrate just added perlite. Doe's no harm, good if any. If you need any other help you may pm me or just post

Very soon here my alien friend will be trying a 100% worm casting bulk tek. He has a fairly good source of worm castings, but he can't find any good straw in his area. That's why he's trying 100% castings. He'll probablly be using 2 quarts of colonized popcorn as spawn.

What's everyone's opinion on what is the best way to pasteurize worm castings? Microwave? Oven? Stove? What temps and how long? Thanks

My friend would steralize at 20 ilb's for an hour and half if you pasturize 170 degres for 2 hours

When I lived in amsterdam, before they regulated p. cubensis, I tried a plastic shoebox to fruit 100% castings with powdered brf cakes for spawn - I counted 34 pins, but most of em were halfway down in the substrate - didn't think it was gonna fruit, and never painted the tub. Shit works, but mine never really looked colonized. The little bastards just popped up outta the seemingly uncolonized worm shit.
