i never got too into hardcore, but the ones i listened to were dead to fall and poison the well...see i can't even name 5.

Oh yeah. And there is only 1 metalcore band in existence.
It's mother fucking INTEGRITY.
Some would argue that Botch was the first metalcore band but since they aren't even metalcore I would say hell no.

i'm not really into hardcore but my niece burned me a few cd's of the bands she 's into for me to listen to and i could kind of get into it... the three she turned me onto is boy sets fire, refused and hopesfall... it's amazing the child is an A student  just kidding.. just kidding! these are a few of my favorites from each cd she burned...

You don't know dick about music kiddy. Bad Brains are credited for being the FIRST hardcore band ever, do yourself a favor and listen the their self titled that came out 77'. Same with Minor Threat that came out in 80'. Minor Threat is probably the biggest name in hardcore. Undeniably in the top three. Neither are punk, if you knew anything about this scene then you would know that.

Sure call it generic or say that is is nothing in comparison to the past. But I think that hardcore music and its variations are made for one sole purpose... To strike up fires within us and make us feel wild and alive. This music, for me, does just that.
