Could it Pin?
    #1551812 - 05/15/03 04:24 PM (20 years, 11 months ago)

Hi. This guy I know has three bins of poop. He burned two with steaming-hot casing material after colonization and decided to wait it out. After a few weeks, he noticed overlay the size of a dime in two places and barely visible white fuzz around the edges. Should he introduce fruiting conditions to see what happens? Thanks for any help with this .
-Che
P.S. He did have green in one, and took care of it with h2o2/h2o.

Yeah if it is overlay nothing will get through it.

No, not really. He removed the casing, scratched, reapplied a much cooler casing layer and laid in wait. Three weeks later he is hopeful still

I would patch it after reapplying the top casing layer it seems the mycelial layer is not even. Also make sure the casing layers aren't too thick. Good rule of thumb is for the casing layer to be 1/4 that of the mycelial layer.

3/4 on 4...the casing layer is even, but the substrate surface may not be, heh. Anyone ever have just little hard white circles of overlay, or is the guy looking at something else? Anyway, the fuzziness hasn't turned the wrong direction in about a week, so....

Yeah, prolly just parts where the substrate was thicker or an edge of a big chunk of it was poking through -- happened all the time to me before I started crumbling up the substrate more. Patching should solve this. Unless you burned it and it's the parts that survived poking through -- never seen this myself but who knows?

3 weeks is an awful long time for a case run, though. Should take 2 or 3 days.
