I dont consolidate at all. I will allow 5 days to colonize after spawning. then I case, and give them another 4 days Thats 9 days, then I fruit.I do keep misting light, on the first 2 or 3 days of beginning of fruiting. Thats about it. Now I can see how, it would give you an advantage, and I would do it if I had too. But I dont. You can see, in my sig, the results. But I would give PF jars an extra week.

This is interesting RD.  I do believe in the value of allowing for consolidation,
but I also believe that allowing a sub to partially colonize a casing
layer is beneficial, and your technique might compromise the one, but
it does well on the other.

That this balances out is clear from your results.

Well also, one could assume, that, the time frame it takes for the casing layer to colonize would also allow some consolidation. I do realize that I probably push the envelope. But I have to have speed, its the pot grower in me.

Skills!

I would love to grow some herb, but honestly the idea of paying beaucoup
ducets for powering expensive lights and air movement systems when we
have the sun and the winds just blows my mind.

The shits grows wild, if we let it....but we cannot enjoy it.

...but have a Budweiser...and how 'bout a nice pack of Marlboros?

The fix is in boys!

Sorry.  Back on topic: you can definitely count the casing colonization
time as consolidation of the sub.  I do not think that it behaves identically
as I think (wonder) that there is something like a switch that changes
how the mycelium behaves once it has no uncolonized sub to exploit.

Just blabbering.  Have a great day.

Sure and to prove it, Have you ever just left a fully colonized grain jar for like a month, You will notice when you go to break it up, that it has become so consolidated, that It practly brakes the jar, instead of breaking up.  Also when you pour it out, and look closely at it, you will notice that it looks like it has literally consumed the grains. Furthermore you will notice far more bluing or bruising. Which indicates to me, that this consolidation would increase the amount of actives. For instance, If I was going to do the extraction of actives, thing, I would want a really old grain jar. I think.

I have seen this.  The results rip through subs like nothing else.
