Comcast Blocking the Shroomery?

So I woke up this morning, started up my computer and opened up Chrome like any other day. www.shroomery.org is my homepage but all day I've been getting this message:
Quote:
ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved
While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.shroomery.org/
The following error was encountered:
ICAP protocol error. The system returned:
[No Error] This means that: Some aspect of the ICAP communication failed. Possible problems:
ICAP server is not reachable. Illegal response from ICAP server.
Generated Tue, 13 Dec 2011 20:04:38 GMT by so&so (not sure if I should post the comcast website provided.)
So I've been playing games on Steam, watching a few tv shows and then when I opened up Chrome again, frustrated as hell that I was still getting the same message. I figured I'd try to add /forums/ and if it still didn't work I'd call up Comcast and complain.
Obviously I can currently view the forums although who knows if that's going to change. So what the hell is that message about and why is it popping up for my beloved homepage, the Shroomery?

try one of those websites which crosscheck if that domain is available from their location so that you can compare with yours.
check your browser for proxies, eventually set a free one to test its functionality. however don't trust them completely as far as login goes.
or change your DNS (which probably matches you ISP DNS) with another one.

how are you viewing the web page now? I don't understand that part
this could be a number of things, I don't think Comcast is blocking the web site, because it would say "inappropriate content drugs" I know because I've seen shroomery blocked on a computer where content was edited
this could be a number of different things, it could be a port has been blocked off. it could be that you have edited the allowed content of web sites on your computer, but unlikely. it could be an internal computer software error, it could be a billion things. I would help you begin the long process of trouble shooting(or short process maybe you can fix this with one click) but I have to go somewhere and won't be back for a few hours. it might be a server issue on the comcast side which will eventually resolve itself. anyway I won't be back for awhile, and chances are when I do get back quite a few people will say "hey imachavel is a newb fuck him don't listen to his garbage" to which I will reply, let them help you figure it out, since a lot of people on here seem to know how to resolve these issues
anyway when I get back if you still haven't solved the problem, I'll start coming up with some things you could trouble shoot. most likely this will resolve itself, is my guess. try it again in a few hours, if not this is what we'll look at:
"ICAP server is not reachable. Illegal response from ICAP server."
my strong guess is it's a temporary comcast error with a server connection between you, the shroomery, and your comcast i.s.p. provider. have you tried running trace route to shroomery? that might help you out a bit. anyway I don't want to get too elaborate about this. later

how do you change your dns if it's given to you by the internet service provider??
ok this gives a pretty good description that it is indeed a server error on their end. however it could be content blocked settings because of this phrase:
"Correct me if I'm wrong but if I understand correctly Comcast only forwards traffic through their proxy servers IF they've detected malware, and use it to inject notifications."
but unlikely, very unlikely, none the less, check your content settings in any way possible. system settings, content settings. try internet explorer content settings. try going to control panel and viewing network settings and look for content settings. my guess is it will fix itself, btw if it does fix itself, please post that it has done so. mainly because if someone else on the internet searches with the same keywords with the same error, and finds this thread, I'd like them not to be racking their brain trying to figure out why the problem is still occurring because it hasn't been answered in this thread. thanks

Whatever it was, it's back to normal now. I made a decision not to attempt to fix the problem unless it stayed that way for 24-48 hours. Glad to have the main page back. I was still able to view the forums for some reason but now I have both available.
