I've read that if you deprive a San Pedro of light and water for an extended period of time it will build up mescaline in defense. I assumed that this should be done right before you harvest, but a friend brought up a point: could you do this once, nurse it back to good health, and do it again, and thus increase mescaline content even more? I rationalized that you probably couldn't by the logic that the cactus would break down mescaline if it weren't 'in use' (I don't understand how mescaline works as a defense mechanism though) so you couldn't potentiate the concentration of mescaline. Anyone have any experience or ideas with this?
science tells me that the amino acid l-tyrosine breaks down to tyra and dopa which can be convertated to dopamine in the cacti which is the precusure to mesc...maybe feed this powder to them over the years will have some effect...I'll let you know in a couple o years...
