not a HUGE harvest but this was the first day of the season for them. i went back the next day and picked a little bit more.
one last picture

after two days i have about an ounce dry. i cant eat all those guys in one night so i had to dry them. i cant imagine how much i'll have by the end of the season.

Nice finds. When i used to spend summers and my friends German grandparents house we would pick them by the basket. We would then clean them up. Then she eather boiled them quickly then added to a sauce of butter, onions, and flower or she would saute in the butter and onions then add the flower after cooking. She would then fill them into tuperware andfreeze them for use though out the year.
Oh how i miss them. last year i found a whole two of them......

Cool stuff man. I too live in south florida, I give you mad props for those cubies there if you found them around here. I've had a tough time spotting finding any active mushrooms myself. And as for the chanterelles, do you harvest them just for the eating?

Awesome! I'm dying to go out and start picking some edibles. Just a matter of when the conditions are right. Things are far too hot and dry right now.

Just google chanterelles. You can find out what kind of habitat they grow in and what conditions in a matter of minutes.
Sorry to sound annoying, and keep spamming, but could you all please read this...

It's Ok, many often miss this. Quick reply does the same thing.. You can go to the first post and hit the quick reply button on waxingren's post and it will set the reply to him. Basically you want it to be set on whoever you are talking/responding to.
Thank you for looking at it! Sorry to come off as a nag.

Nice score waixingren.
Did you also find those Cubies?
What kind of trees are near where you're finding the Chanterelles?

oof so many replies! thanks guys!
well, the cubes are not wild, theyre from my outdoor penis envy grow using composted manure from walmart. PE Grow
i do eat the chanterelles, i considered freezing them but if i froze them all i wouldnt have any room for my waffles! so i must dry them. maybe i'll check out some organic food stores around here and see if theyre interested. ive never seen any for sale around here so i bet they would sell.
these were found growing under a few oak trees in about a half acre area. ive trecked a couple square miles of woods in this town and ive not found another patch yet. this patch is good though, i went back out today and found even more than the first two days.
and as far as finding actives around here i did find about a wet ounce of some weak pans in a horse field. but my PE and ps. atlantis were spawned and fruited outdoors so the conditions are pretty good.
btw does anyone know if a chanterelle field can be picked to death? i'd hate to see the demise of the field due to my pickings. ive seen cube fields dwindle down to near worthlessness because of over picking. though im thinking many cube fields start fresh from spores each year and the chanterelle patches stay established underground with the tree roots all year long.
welp im off to go start my first san pedro experience! wish me luck, im excited.

I've never picked a chanterelle patch dry. I don't think it's possible because of the mychorrizal relationship they have with plants/trees. I'd imagine the fruits you see above ground are just a small fraction of mycelium that exists underground.
I need to get out and hunt some chants. We just haven't had enough rain here lately. Next rain, I'll go out hunting. I'd get pics, but those whores at Sony still haven't fixed my cam =\

These mushrooms might get a latin name soon, I think Michael Kuo is working on a paper that will describe 6 chanterelles from the midwest.
