this is what I posted in a thread I started a couple of days ago in the general questions area. I'm going to write something that is clearer, but many will understand what I'm talking about anyway. just try to see what I'm getting at, that's all.

Well, I didn't take 7 gs. I ate about 5 gs, give or take, and left about 2gs for another trip... I'm in the process of coming down, it's 3:45, I dosed at about 9:30, the movies started at 10.

anyway, that said, I feel confident that the dose was sufficient. I didn't drink any fluids for most of the day-- and fasted of course, I usually fast, but the not drinking anything was new-- anyway I stopped eat/drinking around 11am. Also, I ran about a mile and a half about 40 minutes before dosing.

anyway, the point is that given my preparation, I think that I made those 5 gs really count.

the trip started before the movie, trying to find a seat. it was a really confusing situation involving getting a ticket with a non tripping friend, then finding a tripping friend who had a seat but not two, so I couldn't sit with the non tripping friend. it all got worked out in a really trippy manner, we found three seats all the way in front and all the way to the left (stage right for you theatre geeks), but two other guys I know had already claimed the seats we had found, so I got to stay there but my friend couldn't. it was weird. there where only a few open seats next to each other, and they of course where all claimed for someone coming or whatever, so when we came stumbling around asking "hey are these seats taken" to the people around the only open seats in three different theatres, people where copped attitude like it was obvious that we couldn't sit anywhere. it was a really frustrating situation, and it was providence that I found a seat when and where I did. just trippy. that, of course, is when things got really interesting... THE MATRIX RELOADED IS THE FUCKING BOMB. now that I've expressed that, I can sort of comment on what exactly went on in that theatre. the movie is a happening, a be-in, real performance art. it is so postmodern, so self-commenting that it is almost satirical. but its not, its totally serious, and the self commentary is part of the whole philosophy that the movie conveys. by self commentary I mean like when a DJ is extra funky when he knows he just did something cool -- in this context the self commentary is in the way the movie fucks with audiences expectations.

alright, I can see already that I'm not doing this experience any real justice... I'm going to just kind of summarize my conclusions that this trip have led me to.

The matrix is about how it seems like hope and motivation, or wait-- will to be is the term I'm looking for-- it's about how a will to be seems irrational, but that it is actually real, it's just not a product of reason - because of lack of experience. the "experience" that leads to an understanding that existence ought to be valued is a trip, of course, as anyone reading this knows. but what is the trip? apprechiation (im not going to try to spell...) for the necessity of the game of black and white. neo's faith is shattered at the end of the movie, he says "if the prophecy was true, the war should be over" or something like that. this is like the state that contemporary theologan's are at...religion is wrong for trying to sell us a dream of non existence, anything that is world-denying. one level of understanding is that the world is not what is appears and that a nirvana can be made, but it must also be understood to validate existence-- in other words, the answer to neo's challenge is that no, the prophecy is right and nirvana must accomodate the duality of the world- black and white-- the change that neo has to make is changing the perspective in which the game is viewed. it has to be friendly. but all parties have to be accounted for, cause they all exist. I want to go on about the levels and the masters of the different levels and how this relates to shamanistic understandings of how to deal with the aspriations or goals of these masters.... and about how much the matrix is like El Topo... but I'm not going to, cause I'm done. Just do it. be sure of compassion, it is justified.

so I take it you liked the movie?

I'm gonna check it out soon. I have high expectations.
Roger Ebert gave it ***1/2 stars

he's one of the few movie critics that I trust.

I sincerely thought the first movie was much better. It seemed to drag on, but I liked the ending.

Malachi, great post.
I saw the movie last night, but wasn't in the greatest state of mind to completely absorb everything, so I think I will eat some mushrooms next time I see it.

Anyways it was incredible, as I knew it would be. As for Roger Ebert giving it 3 and a half stars... I don't give a shit about what he, or any other critic thinks. No movie ever made deserves a 5 star rating more than the Martix and the Matrix reloaded.

Critics are worthless pseudo-intellectuals trying to pass off their opinion as if it carries more weight than that of the average person. Well, I'm sorry Roger Ebert, that the matrix reloaded failed to live up to your ever-so-respected standards of what a life-changing movie is. I guess your level of intelligence surpasses the genius that went into making the Matrix by 1.5 stars. Gee, you should have produced the movie Roger, you would have done a much better job. *Please note extreme sarcasm*

The movie was incredible, can't wait to see it again, and again, and analyze every single word.

3 and a half stars is actually pretty damn good. I think it's out of a possible 4 stars.. and yes most critics are a bunch of fuckin worthless shills owned by the studios, which is why I appreciate someone who has seen thousands of movies and can offer an objective, dispassionate and professional voice without the HYPE.

I see what you are saying, about him having to constantly change perspective. but i think that neo i still searching for what he must do. everyone knows on some level what he has to do for them. but What he actually must do, what he must make, is for him to figure out. He has to make his way, and figure that out on his own. There were so many inter related parts in this movie i lost track of some of them. It was such a bad ass movie, im going to have to see it again to really start to try and formulate an idea about what i have learned. The first movie changed my life. I dont know where i would be now if i had not seen that movie, probably no where near as "enlightened" as i am now.

That whole movie has the feel of a dream. Its almost exactly how it feels like before i have a lucid dream. I start having all these visions, and weird feelings about the future. and im preposed this situation where i am out of control. and i have to be challenged to a point where i break out, and have to focus. The whole movie... like the patterns of a dream... and the funny thing is thats how the movie begins, and how it ends. I love these movies.

warning, spoilers.

I think that the critical reaction is perfect: obviously the squares don't get it.. that's what is so hip. everyone comes in for the special effects, and most take it for granted that the profound aspects aren't really profound... it's just a movie, after all. So we get these square critics who like to act like they understand that the movie is "pop philosphy" or "quasi-profound" or whatever. Of course, movie critics don't know jack shit about philosophy, or the significance of archetypal happenings, and they most certainly don't know shit about themselves and each other and god and religon and the impermanence of appearance. the matirx is "just" a cooler starwars.

"Part of the fun is becoming an expert in the deep meaning of shallow pop mythology; there is something refreshingly ironic about becoming an authority on the transient extrusions of mass culture, and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) now joins Obi-Wan Kenobi as the Plato of our age" -ebert

what's ironic is that millions of people are going to be part of a happening that isn't transient, and most defiently isn't an extrusion of "mass culture", but straight from the psychedelic and/or mystic underworld. This is a mystical experience, so of course most people don't understand why it would be interesting to make a movie that lets them see what is up in the head's head - - they want to see fights - - so they can vicariously feel... what? what it's like to kick someone's ass? no, so they can feel the dizzying highs and profound lows of a mystic experience.

there where so many scene's in that movie that I've previously hallucinated on various other trips... the "freeway"? that seemed an very symbolic of the highway of energy that the reality looked like on a trip... I was introduced to it with a feeling like "remember what we do? we ride the energy, it's what the energy is for..
and, of course, the architect's room, and all of the 'levels' leading to it. been there. this movie had to be made with the aid of psychedelics. there's a hookah scene in this one to compliment the mention of mescaline in the first.,,

Am I the only person in the world that thought the matrix wasnt all that great? I mean take a step back and look at how fucking stupid and uncreative the whole plot was, nothing but eye candy and random meaningless bullshit. The special effects where for the most part great, but take the robots for example, they looked like crappy graphics. Robot bug sucked out of neals stomach, the oracle shit, hovercraft, teenage mutant ninja turtles, cant think of an ending, just have neil fly away. Also, I noticed some careless errors, like that part when neil is on the roof, just after the glass on the building blows up, in the next scene you can see through athe cloud of smoke that the building is intact. How much money did it cost to make this movie and they couldnt add more smoke. If only hollywood didnt take so much extacy.

i dont get your point tryptamine, but i DO agree it was a dissapointment, and a majour one, the whole preoccupation with fasion and eye candy ruined it, that and the butchering of morpheus character.

"My Name IS NEO!"

well to me it follows how it should. and if i try to explain myself i worry that i should spoil the movie for others. in some ways i think its happening just how it should. neo isnt just stagnant character made to be like your typical film, he is NEO he is new. it is everchanging. this isnt mainstream eye candy. i cant remember the last time hollywood ever came out with a movie like this. The creators of this movie are fresh to the scene. I mean you are entitled to your opinion, but if you really want to dissect it, this is a wonderful film. Not everything that is main stream is crap. Say jesus did exist, and he did do miracles and brought peace to us. Could you really say he is a cheesy character only admired by the mass public? thats the very reason he was thought to be killed cause he was thought to be crazy and stirring up trouble. I think a lot of people could butcher this film, and i could see where you might find descrepancies, but to really appreciate this as a piece of art you have to open up your mind. This is a work of art, not lobbed out of the ass by marketing corporations like some movies. Even if it was, i would think they are making themselves counterproductive. And to me that excuse sounds like bullshit.

Maybe its only random cause you dont follow the change. Maybe it wasnt great cause it doesnt appeal to you.

The first Matrix was very great and changed my life. that may sound like some like ideal dreamy crap.  but i dare you, i dare you to challenge the thought of art. of art being meaningless, and that it has no impact on life, and even more that this movie has no plot, and that it is a heap of crap .

If you havent watched swordfish, i think you should. and listen to john travoltas little rant in the beginning.  Its made by the same brothers who made the matrix  .

these guys are genius's. what better way to reach a society of people who are bent on self destruction. and chaos. make a movie about it! glorify it to the mediums on which these films have success! HOLLYWOOD! they are daring. how many times have you seen other films copy this action sequences like in the matrix
???? ...? Not only do they grip the masses with primative nature, they break past that into evolution and tickle your brain. Whether you choose to or not. To me calling this movie just some kind of attempt for action crap film, is like saying that fight club was just about a bunch of egotistical males fighting.

but you have your opinion, and i can respect that. but dont take it too far!

i think if you ask some people and myself. they did this and they even made fun of it. watch before the movie, and an agent is telling you to drink powerade. really listen to what he said at the bluntness, coupled with the underlying principle of the matrix and the controllers. they are teaching the masses, tickling their very subconcious. and no one can stop it! ITS FUCKING AMAZING. to see this done is for me to view the world finally winning on the side of enlightened individuals. telling them to think for themselves. They make fun of the fasion eye candy, and its humorous, but its thought prevoking. and why NOT laugh? laugh at the obviousness of truth, you will find this the path to ultimate humility and acceptance no? I read some reviews about the whole matrix theme in the beginning on the corprate production. (The sign of village road show production with all the code). yes that. That i read is the creators attempt to be condemning of this corporate control of the film industry all together. Maybe the reason this even made it to the mainstream, and kept it from being just an independent film, was an acceptance of the creators to get their message out. again my contention for a truely genius creation.

neo was weak for giving into love, the architect even said how he saw the mechanism of his emotion playing out just like a mathematical equation. neo had a chance to defy the lack of free-will in the matrix, yet he chose the path that was already mapped out...

Fookin hallarious!

Matrix reloaded explained more in to the contemporary living of today

(i believe it was the boss of the key maker, explains) How when he made a special cake for that women, how it didn't even matter anymore (a scene into the philosiphy of drugs)

The oracle explains anything you've heard about aliens, vampires, werewolves are somebody doing something wrong. (philosiphy in to EVIL)

The architect is god, god created the matrix!

The phrophesy is only another form of control, there is no one to come there are many to come (at least i see it setting up to that, in revolutions) (remember when neo destroys 3 sentianls OUT OF THE MATRIX)(philosiphy of control)

(i thought the matrix reloaded will be about how the matrix was created and in a different way than i excepted, it is)

*More to come by, "The one"*

Uuh, no it's not.
Before they made the original matrix, they made bound, a lesbian mafia crime moive which was pretty good.
Swordfish was directed by Dominic Sena who did Gone in 60 Seconds.
