In regards to potency or kind of trip? I know that potency wise they're all pretty much the same, but I've had different kinds of trips with different strains of mushies.

They're definitely not all the same.. the ratio psylocybin/psylocin matters too, at least that's why I think p. cubensis give different effects than c. cyanescens for example

Every trip is different regardless of strain in my experience. There's really no way of knowing how much, if any, of that difference is caused by different strains.

Strain refers to differences within the species. There is no difference in different strains, but there are in different species.

There are many alkaloids in the mushrooms, but the main active ones are psilocybin/psilocin, psilocybin turns into psilocin though before it gets to your brain so it's all the same trip. The only difference is dosage and potency.

like some others have said... the only chemicals which seem to cause any of the mushroom's effect are - psilocin, psilocybin (which is converted to psilocin in the stomach) and baeocystin (which - according to several people who've tried this pure on this board - has the same effeects as psilocybin).
In the end it's all dosage, set and setting. every trip is different, it's unlikely this is because of the chemicals

I completley disagree, i think that every different variety of mushroom will give you different types of highs. To say that no matter what strain you take youll get the same high is outrageous, have you ever eaten shrooms?

I think he means that no matter what type of cubies (Or whatever the species in question), the effects will be relatively similar as far as intensity, onset, etc... Other species are obviously much different than cubes, but the differences in strains is minimal at best (See: Vendor hype).

Check out the strain poll in the poll section of the site. It has some pretty good ideas on the differences between strains.
