Question about caapi tea preparation.

Hey guys. I saw this tek a while back on DMT Nexus and was wondering if anybody had experience with it?
https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=3399
Previously, I had been using the standard tek of boiling caapi in a pot with slightly acidified water 3 times over, or however many it took for the water coming off the caapi to be clear. Then I would reduce the volume via boiling. I would use about 50-60 grams for a dose using this tek.
What interests me about this tek is:
Quote:
CosmicLion said: The Herbal Percolator (THP) is probably the best method for Caapi brews. It reduces tannins SIGNIFICANTLY and extracts out MUCH more Harmala from the vine then boiling. Caapi is usually active at around 30-50g but using THP doses can be active with as little as 10g!
That sounds like a lot of caapi saved.
Has anybody tried this tek yet and can validate or refute it's claims? Thanks.

I too have heard good things but a slow cooker/crock pot does the job for my caapi just set it up go to work decant do it again and again better results then slaving over a stove for hours.

Yea, that's the problem you see. Lots of people have heard good things about it, but I can't seem to find anyone who's actually used it themselves. Word of mouth is alright, but this is a case when I would prefer an actual testimony before I go through the trouble of building one.

I totally understand.....that's why I don't have one.

Yeah it's pretty awesome.... I've one used it several times (it's not a permanent thing, it's quickly assembled and kinda disposable [recyclable ] as I don't like reusing plastics too many times)
I never build one any more because it doesn't seem to achieve anything more than simply soaking your plant material in room temp. acidified water then filtering through coffee filters and repeating a couple of times. It's a great beginner's project though, and it really does make some strong caapi tea!
The key is to use no (or very very little) heat in the extraction - just acidified water and evaporation. If you use vinegar, which is the recommended acid, you should let your tea evaporate fully and then take the extract (vinegar in your ayahuasca makes it pretty terrible to drink)
Potency claims made on the nexus are often exaggerated just a little (I think they have a bit lower tolerances than the shroomery crowd perhaps) but offer an good place to start.
